LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It is one thing to set two friends up on a date. But it goes on a whole other level when their relationship lasts long enough to arrive at marriage and you are the one officiating it! Jensen Ackles lives to be the perfect wingman Jeffrey Dean Morgan could have asked for.
Jeffrey and his wife Hilarie met each other in 2009 because of a date set up by his ‘Supernatural’ co-star Jensen. Jensen later went on to also officiate their marriage when the couple got wedded four years ago.
'It was all very surreal'
The Morgan couple came out with a talk show back in 2020 called ‘Friday Night In With the Morgans’, taking after the Covid-19 pandemic theme of video calls with friends and family. The first episode brought the popular show ‘Supernatural’s actors Jeffrey and Jensen back together on screen with their respective partners. Jensen, in response to a fan question, revealed the details of how he introduced the Morgans. “Hilarie was in town visiting, this was in L.A., and she was staying with us and so we went out one evening,” Jensen explained, “I remember it, it was like an Irish pub in Toluca Lake.”
Jensen continued, “And there we were sitting, the three of us, I convinced (Jeffrey) to come down the street and meet us for a drink, and you did. And you pulled up in your Harley, and we were sitting there in the front window, and Hilarie sees this guy get off a bike in slow-motion and take his helmet off and throw his hair.” “It was all very surreal,” he added to Jeffrey and Hilarie laughing, “You walked in, the two of you locked eyes, and that was pretty much the rest of the evening.”
Jensen became Morgans’ officiant
Later, when the Morgans decided to tie the knot back in 2019, Jensen again played an important role- of officiating their marriage! Jeffrey and Hilarie had already shared a son and a daughter when they decided to make it legally official. Jeffrey shared an Instagram post from the wedding that revealed that Jensen, along with ‘The Walking Dead’ star Norman Reedus, were the ones who performed the ceremony.
His caption read, “A few words... It was an intimate ceremony... performed by @jensenackles and @bigbaldhead (Norman) with our kids at our sides... and the party of the century afterwards... thank you to all our friends and family. It was, without a doubt... the best day of our lives. Ever ever. Just never knew that it could be so damn perfect. It was. And more.”
