LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Garner spoke about what she missed the most from her days as a someone relatively unknown in Hollywood. In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, she said that there were times she wished she could just be herself, and smile and talk to people.
Garner said that the inability to interact as her authentic self was "something to mourn and not be taken lightly" but also understood it was the consequence of being successful. "It’s an enormous loss when you are the person that the eyes are directed toward. The loss of just being able to smile at someone on the street and say hello as yourself is a really intense thing," she said.
‘It’s not something to be totally feared’
Garner, however, stated, "It’s not something to be totally feared." She gained prominence for her role on 'Alias', in which she portrayed a double agent working for the CIA and a criminal organization. During the conversation, she revealed that many fans still recognized her because of her role on '13 Going on 30'. She said, "I get a lot of 13 Going on 30. It’s, 'Oh, it’s my comfort movie,' or, God forbid, 'My mom’s favorite movie,'" she stated.
Garner is also known for her portrayal of the superhero Elektra in the 2003 film 'Daredevil.' It was during the filming of the superhero flick that she fell in love with Ben Affleck. The ex-couple tied the knot in 2005, the same year her solo superhero film 'Elektra' premiered. Although Garner and Affleck split in 2018, they maintain an amicable relationship as co-parents to their three children.
Jennifer Garner finds love again
Following their divorce, Garner began dating businessman John Miller in 2018, and they have since kept their relationship relatively low-key. While she typically keeps her personal life private, she added that it was important to recognize and talk about the loss of anonymity. She emphasized the need to find moments of observation, quietness and create space for oneself amidst the attention. She said, "It's something to know for yourself and to talk about. And then figure out where you can still observe and be quiet in yourself and make room for those places."
According to his bio on F6S, a platform for startup founders, Miller identifies himself as an "inventor and entrepreneur with a particular focus on exploring the effects of emerging technologies on the retail and restaurant sectors."
