LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ariana Grande's past appears to be haunting her amidst multiple reports about her new relationship with 'Wicked' co-star Ethan Slater. The late 'Glee' star Naya Rivera had once claimed that the singer had moved in on her fiancé, rapper Big Sean, years before.
Rivera wrote in her 2016 book, 'Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes, and Growing Up,' that she met Grande at Big Sean's house prior to the rapper calling off his wedding to the 'Glee' actress and beginning a relationship with the pop star, reports Page Six. "On the one day that he was back in LA, he said he didn’t want to see me. But since she had a key, she let herself in to his house," Rivera penned. "I walk in, go downstairs, and guess what little girl is sitting cross-legged on the couch listening to music? … It rhymes with 'Smariana Schmande.'"
Why did Naya Rivera shade Ariana Grande?
Naya Rivera, in her 2016 memoir, had accused Ariana Grande of stealing her fiancé, musician Big Sean, away from her. The late 'Glee' star said she caught the singer at the rapper's house before he canceled his wedding to Rivera and began dating the pop star instead. However, it is crucial to remember that this is only one side of the story, and Grande has never publicly responded to Rivera's claim.
Big Sean and Grande began dating in 2014, following his separation from Rivera. Although it has been years since Rivera made the accusation, Grande has never addressed it and neither have her representatives, as per Page Six.
Is Grande to blame for Slater's divorce filing?
The singer's representatives have also kept quiet when it comes to reports about the singer's romance with Ethan Slater, who has separated from his wife Lilly Jay. Jay and Slater are parents to a one-year-old. According to sources who spoke to the outlet earlier, Jay was "completely blindsided" by Slater's new connection. "It’s horrible. They were high school sweethearts. They have a baby! She’s a wreck," they revealed, speaking about Jay’s mental state after Slater filed for divorce.
Friends of the former couple believe Grande, 30, is to blame for Slater ending the marriage because "nothing appeared wrong between them." As per Jay, her family is now "collateral damage," telling Page Six that "[Ariana’s] the story, really. Not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage."
