LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Excitement for summer films is at an all-time high with big releases coming our way in August. Films like Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie', Tom Cruise's 'Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One' and Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' are currently going through their promotional period before release. The interviews that have come out from this period have given a rare insight into the lives and thoughts of actors and directors.
What Emily Blunt, who will be starring in 'Oppenheimer', shared about the movie's lead actor, Cillian Murphy, in an interview has left the Internet in splits. The actress shared an interesting fact about the cast's dynamic and fans think she was gravely mistaken about the whole thing.
'His brain was just too full'
In a recent interview with People, Blunt revealed how the cast members became really close and used to have dinners together regularly. However, Murphy did not attend these dinners because he could not handle socializing while leading the serious film.
"The sheer volume of what he had to take on and shoulder is so monumental," Blunt said, adding, "Of course he didn't want to come and have dinner with us." Fellow cast member Matt Damon shared the same sentiments saying, "He couldn't. His brain was just too full."
Murphy then added to the conversation, "You know that when you have those big roles, that responsibility, you feel it's kind of overwhelming."
Fans are not convinced by Cillian Murphy's reasons
Regardless of the actors' views about Murphy, fans think it was merely an excuse made by the Irish actor. Many of them flocked to Twitter to share their reactions. One fan said, "God cillian is such a genius coming up with that excuse." Another said, "Gonna start saying the sheer volume of what i have to take on and shoulder is too monumental for me to hang out."
Several also found it completely normal for Murphy to not want to hang out with his cast mates. One tweeted, "And sometimes when you spend hours working with people, you'd rather spend your down time without them. It's not shade, it's just decompressing from work." Some fans also think that Murphy might have refused to the dinners because of his Irish identity as one of them said, "It could also be that the rest of the cast was British and American." In a similar vein, a fan recalled Murphy's well-known harmless apprehensiveness towards non-Irish people in a tweet that read, "My absolute favorite fun fact about cillian murphy is that when he was living in london he realized his kids were getting an english accent so he hauled a** back to ireland with them to prevent that from happening."
Another one made a hilarious comment on Blunt's way of wording Murphy's state by tweeting, ""What he had to shoulder was so monumental" ok no shade to the importance of method acting but why she acting like he's the one who created the atomic bomb."
