KEY WEST, FLORIDA: Legendary musician Jimmy Buffett died of cancer at the age of 76. In 2019, he was reportedly diagnosed with the life-threatening disease that progressed to lymphoma.
"He lived his life in the sun, literally and figuratively," an insider told TMZ Friday, September 1.
The source noted that the singer had been receiving hospice care since Monday, August 28.
Paul McCartney reportedly sang to the songwriter during his visit to his home, a week before Buffett's death.

On Friday morning, September 1, a statement announcing Buffett's death was posted to his social media accounts.
“Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1 surrounded by his family, friends, music, and dogs," read the statement posted alongside a smiling picture of Buffett.
"He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many," the post concluded.
In May 2023, Buffett canceled his performance which was part of his Second Wind Tour in Charleston, South Carolina, following a medical emergency that required him to be under hospice care.
