MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: In a surprising legal development, Sophie Turner revealed in a bombshell lawsuit that she "found out through the media" about her estranged husband Joe Jonas filing for divorce.
The 'Game of Thrones' star who is now suing the singer requesting the "immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained" revealed in court documents filed on Thursday, September 21 that the "breakdown" of her four-year marriage "happened very suddenly," reports Page Six.
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner had a birthday 'argument' just weeks before divorce
The 27-year-old actress claimed that she and Jonas had "an argument on his 34th birthday on August 15 just three weeks before the songwriter filed for divorce on September 5 in Miami.
Turner claimed to have "found out through the media that [Jonas] filed for divorce" and further alleged that the singer has "wrongfully retained" their two children in the United States since September 20.
The 'Another Me' actress who claimed that she and Jonas had agreed in December 2022 that they would "move to England" is now suing her estranged husband for the return of their children from the US to her home country, as per the filing in a Manhattan court.
Joe Jonas asserted he had been his young daughter's primary caregiver
Joe filed for divorce earlier this month amid his world tour 'Five Albums, One Night' with Nick Jonas and Kevin Jonas.
He requested "shared responsibility" for their daughters, three-year-old Willa, and her one-year-old sister, stating that he had been their primary caregiver.
During this time, Turner was away filming her upcoming show 'Joan' where she plays the role of Joan Hannington, a British jewel thief.
The legal documents indicate that Turner and Jonas, with some hesitation, agreed to a "temporary arrangement" for their daughters to be with Jonas during her filming commitments so as to ensure that the children will be able to spend time with one of their parents during the day.
The now-estranged couple welcomed their young daughters in July 2020 and July 2022, respectively.

"I’m slowly dragging my husband back. I really love living in America but, for my mental health, I have to be around my friends and my family. … [Joe] might take quite a bit of convincing!", she explained.
