Spotify premium subscribers in UK to now pay £1 extra per month
Spotify premium subscribers in UK to now pay £1 extra per month
Spotify has increased the subscription prices of its premium plan in many parts of the world, with an individual plan going up by £1 in the UK. The price rise comes following Spotify chief Daniel Ek suggesting during an April earnings call that there could be an increase in subscription fee soon. The changes also come as other streaming platforms, including Netflix and Apple Music raised their subscription prices recently. “The market landscape has continued to evolve since we launched. So that we can keep innovating, we are changing our Premium prices across a number of markets around the world,” the audio steaming giant noted in a blog post on Monday. “These updates will help us continue to deliver value to fans and artists on our platform,” it said. In the US, the company said the premium plan for individuals would now cost $10.99 (£8.55) a month up from the charge of $9.99 (£7.77) it has levied since the platform’s launch in 2011. Along with the price rise for a single individual premium subscription plan, the cost of Duo is increasing from $12.99 (£10.11) to $14.99 (£11.6), and for the Family plan from $15.99 (£12.44) to $16.99 (£13.22), and the one for students from $4.99 (£3.88) to $5.99 (£4.66). “We will raise it and that price increase will go down well because we’re delivering a lot of value for our customers,” Mr Ek said, noting that the changes would happen “when the timing is right.” Spotify said users would be given a “one-month grace period” before the new prices take effect. Other countries where the new price regime will take effect include Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Spain, Finland and France, among several others. “Starting from today, existing subscribers in these markets will receive an email explaining what this means for their account,” the company said. “We occasionally update our prices as we continue to innovate and invest in giving you better listening experiences and more value than ever before.” Read More Sony has officially unveiled the new WF-1000XM5 wireless earbuds – here’s everything you need to know WWF capitalizes on death of Twitter bird logo to highlight real species facing extinction Watch the moment Twitter blue bird sign is taken down from San Francisco HQ

Howard Stern brands King Charles a ‘p***y’ and calls the coronation 'disgusting'
Howard Stern brands King Charles a ‘p***y’ and calls the coronation 'disgusting'
Howard Stern has made it clear that he's no royalist after he called King Charles, a "p***y" and slammed the coronation as "disgusting." The American radio host discussed the recent coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla on his Monday show (May 8) where he referred to the royal couple as "vampires" and declared that "England’s got to get a grip on themselves." "I understand maybe it brings in tourism but Jesus H Christ," Stern began, before having some choice words for the newly crowned King Charles. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter "First of all Prince Charles is a p***y. That’s number one. And people are acting – the whole ceremony they’re acting like that f***ing guy went to war or something and then beat up all the other people." "They’re like ‘We swear our allegiance to you and you’re a great warrior,'" Stern added. "I mean the whole thing is f***ing nuts and in this day and age." He went on note the millions being spent on the coronation while the country is currently going through a cost of living crisis. "It was disgusting and I’ll tell you why it’s disgusting," Stern continued. "It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to say this but England’s having its own economic problems and they spent a fortune on that coronation. And it’s just repugnant to watch a country who’s suffering through economic problems and then you see the pomp and circumstance. Though Stern did concede that the royal family brings tourists to the UK. "I’m not naive. I understand that they’ve determined that having a monarchy brings tourists in and provides a flavor to the country and something for people to go see, it’s part of the tourism, I get all that, I’m not naive. But it just sends the wrong message." Meanwhile, Stern wasn't impressed with King Charles and Queen Camilla's pre-recorded cameo on 'American Idol' with judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie who both performed at King's coronation concert, live from Windsor Castle on Sunday (May 7). "I watch ‘American Idol'," Stern said. "And those two showed up – King Charles and King Camilla or whatever she is. Camilla the Queen. King Kong, whoever the f***, showed up there. "And they marched out, they’re like two wooden boards, they’re like vampires, they’re stiff. And Katy Perry and Lionel are talking to them. I thought they were cardboard cut outs at first they wheeled [on]." Previously Stern has spoken out against the British royals before, since last year he didn't seem to be a fan of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix documentary, calling them "whiny b***ches. Tommy Fury vs KSI fight result has been officially changed after judging error
Tommy Fury vs KSI fight result has been officially changed after judging error
The Tommy Fury vs KSI fight took place on Saturday and the result has been changed following a mistake on the official scorecard from the clash. A sold-out crowd at Manchester's AO Arena watched the pair go head-to-head in the highly anticipated match where Fury was declared the winner by majority decision - much to KSI's outrage. In a majority decision, two judges score a fight for one side, and the third one scores it differently. However, when a photo of the three scorecards was shared on social media showing how the judges scored the fight, boxing fans couldn't help but notice that the scorecard of judge Rafael Ramos had been added up incorrectly. He gave KSI and Fury a 57 each when the score actually was 56 to KSI and 57 to Fury. This error has since been rectified to a 57-56 win for Fury by unanimous decision, talkSPORT reported. Following the match, KSI declared the result a "robbery" and says he is going to appeal the decision. "Robbery, it's a robbery bro," the YouTuber said. "How many jabs did he land? And he had a point taken off as well. You weren't landing. Look at your face, look at your eyes. Look at you." He added: "How do I lose a six-rounder? Unreal. "He [Fury] is the man who is meant to be a pro boxer and he won a majority decision? It's outrageous man. The amount of times he hit me in the back of the head. So many times. "And the referee only took one point? He kept doing it over and over. "I'm sorry, it's outrageous. "We're going to appeal, I want to appeal. I felt like I won that." Meanwhile, Fury branded KSI a "sore loser," and a "bum," in response to his "robbery" accusations. "Was it my best performance? No, absolutely not, but we knew it was going to be a stink fest, because one man didn't want to come to fight," Fury told IFL TV. "Where I come from in the gyms and stuff, you stand there and have a fight. This guy was hopping up and down the ring and didn't want to engage, it was a scrappy affair… "That was a horrible fight, I've not even watched it back and I'm not even sure I'm going to want to watch it back, because I was useless in there, but I still got the win."
