LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Gal Gadot is not letting the cancellation of 'Wonder Woman 3' break her spirits. She has a great lineup of projects coming forward and she is extremely excited about being a part of them. Gadot wants to tell more stories to the audiences, specifically the ones that would be more empowering to her and the audiences alike.
Gadot shot to fame with her role as Diana Prince from DCEU's 'Wonder Woman'. While the future of the iconic character remains in limbo, Gadot has something more to be excited about in the upcoming days.
Why was 'Wonder Woman 3' canceled?
The DCEU witnessed a massive turning point with the involvement of James Gunn in its leadership which resulted in the cancellation of projects back and forth. Patty Jenkins was responsible for writing and directing the previous two installments of 'Wonder Woman' and while the first one was a massive critical and commercial success, the second one fell short of living up to expectations. Gunn has a decade-long plan for DC's future and Jenkins' idea for the third movie did not sit right with his long-term strategy.
A freshly written script was scrapped as Jenkins' was told that it did not fit right with the future plans. Gadot was seemingly excited about the third installment of the movie before the news of its cancellation broke out. However, she has always remained grateful for being able to play this character and is looking forward to her upcoming projects that are already creating a splash.
Gal Gadot wants to tell more stories
While Gadot is already gearing up for the promotions of 'Heart of Stone' and has started with Netflix's Tudum event in Brazil, she managed to provide a glimpse of the kind of waves she would be making in the industry. As per Deadline, Gadot said, "To me, starting and developing stories that I’m passionate about is an incredible thing,” Gadot told Total Film. “The fact that I don’t have to sit still at home and just wait for the next offer is something that makes me feel empowered. I enjoy doing it, it keeps me alive".
She further continued by saying, "I’m not only going to do my own projects, I’m going to work as an actress-for-hire still. But the fact that I can go ahead and tell the stories that I’m passionate about – from ideas that I conceived, or from ideas that I find fascinating from people that want to partner with us – it’s an incredible thing".
Gal Gadot's future projects
Even though the news of 'Wonder Woman 3's cancellation was disappointing, it has not stopped her from embarking on new projects. Gadot has a new Netflix film coming up named 'Heart of Stone', co-starring Jamie Dornan. She has signed up to play 'Cleopatra', which she will also be producing. 'Cleopatra' is already at its early development stages while 'Heart of Stone' is all set to release on August 11, 2023.
Gadot has kept herself busy with an amazing lineup of movies and at the same time has maintained that she is also feeling passionate about telling more 'empowered stories' to the audiences. Gadot is also excited about taking up the role of a producer while maintaining that she would remain an actress for hire.
