ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Da Brat welcomed her first child with her wife Jesseca 'Judy' Harris-Dupart. The 49-year-old rapper gave birth to the couple's son whom they have named True Legend Harris-Dupart on Thursday, July 6 in Atlanta at 8.30 pm ET.
"I can't believe he came out of me! Feels like a dream. He's perfect in every way. Very appreciative of such a blessing of our bundle of joy. This journey has been more amazing than we could've ever imagined," Da Brat told People.
'A lot of stuff we learned about women over the age of 40'
A day before the singer's first wedding anniversary with Dupart in February, she revealed her pregnancy. She then called it "quite a journey," and shared "There's a lot of stuff we learned about women over the age of 40."
The rapper also revealed that she hadn't factored having children into her plans. Dupart is already a mother of three, but this pregnancy is Da Brat's first. "I never thought I was going to have kids. I just thought it wasn't in the cards for me. I've had a great career, a full life. I felt like because I didn't get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn't going to happen for me," Da Brat told the outlet as she talks about her first pregnancy.
Her relationship with Dupart, who is already a mother of three, has made her start "looking at life so differently." The rapper's wife who is the CEO of Kaleidoscope Hair Products, caused her to start "looking at life so differently." However, Da Brat still struggled with the idea of pregnancy and her wife convinced her otherwise. Talking about the phase, she said, "We had a little tug-o-war in the beginning…but I felt like she should have the experience," before adding "She is so nurturing."
Da Brat previously opened up about her miscarriage
Da Brat and Dupart struggled with their pregnancy journey as the rapper suffered a miscarriage after she underwent surgery to remove fibroids and polyps prior to her procedure to transfer the embryo. Her wife also suffered "major health complications" after the egg retrieval procedure. "I had never been so excited about something that I didn't even know I wanted. I fell in love with the idea and then it was all snatched away from me," said Da Brat.
Speaking of the time they planned to grow their family, Dupart shared that they began their planning following the celebration of their wedding on February 22, 2022, which they shared on season 2 of their reality show, 'Brat Loves Judy'. "When we started to discuss this, we didn't realize how many different hurdles can come in the way," said Dupart.
