LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Katharine McPhee has returned to Los Angeles from her Asia tour following a “horrible tragedy” in her family.
While she did not initially confirm what the tragedy was, a report by TMZ suggested that McPhee’s son’s nanny Yadira Calito had died in a horrible car accident.
Who was Yadira Calito?
Yadira Calito was a nanny to Katharine McPhee and David Foster’s son Rennie. Rennie is 15 months old.
Calito died in a tragic accident at the Hamer Toyota dealership in the San Fernando Valley, California on August 9. Calito was 55 at the time of her unfortunate death.
TMZ initially broke the news that McPhee’s long-time nanny Calito had died in a horrific accident while she was at the car dealership. She was killed when an 84-year-old woman driving a Toyota RAV 4 collided with the showroom’s glass walls and slammed Calito.
It is said that the car dragged Calito for 20 feet before she was taken out from under the car.
The 84-year-old woman had come to the showroom for servicing her car. The accident happened when the driver pushed the gas instead of the brakes.
A nurse who was nearby started performing the initial CPR, before the medical team arrived. Calito later died.
Per Daily Mail, Los Angeles Fire Department said that the crash occurred around 9.10 am at 11041 N Sepulveda Blvd, per Daily Mail.
Calito was originally from Santa Ana, El Salvador, per her Facebook profile. She was last photographed with McPhee, Rennie and Foster in January 2023.
What did Katharine McPhee say about the incident?
While McPhee did not officially confirm Calito’s death, per Parade, she indeed made a somber post about a family tragedy.
The songstress, who was in the last leg of her Asia tour with her husband David Foster, announced that she would be missing the last two shows in the Indonesian city of Jakarta. In an Instagram post, she wrote, “Dearest Jakarta fans, it’s with heavy heart I announce I have to miss our final two shows of our Asia run."
She continued, “David and I have a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us needs to get back home to our family.”
“Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return one day and perform for you all.” McPhee said.
