Samuel L Jackson's unimpressed reaction to losing Tony award turns him into instant meme
Samuel L Jackson wasted no time making his feelings known when he was snubbed of a Tony Award at last night's ceremony (11 June), when he sat in the audience looking super dead-pan. The 74-year-old was up against the likes of Brandon Uranowitz, Jordan E Cooper, Arian Moayed and David Zayas for best performance by a featured actor, but was pipped to the post by Uranowitz. Understandably, Jackson looked a bit miffed that he didn't secure his first ever Tony, but it's unfortunately made him the subject of a lot of memes. There's always next year. Elle Fanning reveals seriously gross reason she was turned down from movie aged 16
Elle Fanning has revealed the horrifying reason why she wasn't cast in a movie at the age of 16. The actor appeared on a roundtable with the Hollywood Reporter, where she said she was often 'sheltered' by her management when she was young. "I don’t even think they ever made it [the film], but it was a father-daughter road trip comedy", she explained. "I was 16 years old, and a person said, 'Oh, she didn’t get the father-daughter road trip comedy because she’s unf*******'", she added, prompting gasps from the other guests. However, Fanning maintains she can 'laugh about it now'. Click here to sign up for our newsletters

Tucker Carlson launches new Twitter show – then instantly threatens to leave
Tucker Carlson is back and proving precisely why he doesn’t belong on mainstream news. Fans will, of course, view that as a compliment, but it’s not intended as such. His new Twitter show, the first episode of which aired on Tuesday night (UK time), managed to pack a staggering amount of conspiracy and dangerous conjecture into 10 minutes and 27 seconds. Addressing his 7.9 million followers on the platform from the inside of some sort of log cabin, he launched into a jaw-dropping monologue, covering topics from the destruction of a massive dam in southern Ukraine to an alleged alien coverup by the US government. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The launch of ‘Tucker on Twitter’ comes just weeks after Fox News “parted ways” with its top-rated host. He has clearly kept hold of his loyal fanbase, with episode one of his new low-budget series racking up 44.9 million views in less than 10 hours. And yet, Carlson has made it clear that Twitter shouldn’t get too comfortable: proclaiming that he’ll ditch the platform in an instant if anyone dares call him out on his wild and problematic comments. “We’re told there are no gatekeepers here,” he said about Elon Musk’s social media stage. “If that turns out to be false, we’ll leave.” However, he added: “In the meantime, we are grateful to be here. We will be back with much more very soon.” If the first instalment is anything to go by, we should be concerned by this promise of “much more”. He began his tirade by accusing Ukraine of blowing up the Nova Kakhovka dam, and describing President Zelensky as looking like a “sweaty and rat-like a comedian-turned-oligarch”. He then claimed that the US government is essentially strong-arming its citizens into backing Ukraine against Russia, suggesting that the overriding message is: “Shut up and support Ukraine or else you are in trouble.” He went on to describe Americans as “the least informed people in the world” before accusing the media of “ignoring the stories that matter.” “What's happened to the hundreds of billions of US dollars we've sent to Ukraine? No clue,” he went on. “Who organised those BLM riots three years ago? No one's gotten to the bottom of that. “What exactly happened on 9/11? Well, it's still classified. How did Jeffrey Epstein make all that money? How did he die? How about JFK? And so, endlessly, on. “Not only are the media not interested in any of this, they are actively hostile to anybody who is in journalism. Curiosity is the gravest crime." He went on: “Yesterday, for example, a former Air Force officer who worked for years in military intelligence came forward as a whistleblower to reveal that the US government has physical evidence of crashed non-human made aircraft, as well as the bodies of the pilots who flew those aircraft. “The Pentagon has spent decades studying these otherworldly remains in order to build more technologically advanced weapons systems. OK? That's what the former Intel officer revealed, and it was clear he was telling the truth. “In other words, UFOs are actually real and apparently so is extraterrestrial life. Now, we know in a normal country this news would qualify as a bombshell, the story of the millennium, but in our country it doesn't.” He ended his diatribe by insisting that “most” people in the US live “manipulated by lies and silenced by taboos”. “It is unhealthy and it's dehumanising, and we're tired of it,” he stressed. So what is the antidote to all this state-sponsored “secrecy”? Why, to tune into ‘Tucker on Twitter’, of course. Plenty of people will, inevitably, and Musk himself has promoted the series’ release. Retweeting the episode, he wrote jovially: “Would be great to have shows from all parts of the political spectrum on this platform!” All we can say is, more sanity, please. Kim Kardashian mocked Kendall Jenner's love life with a t-shirt – and critics all said the same thing
Kim Kardashian mocked Kendall Jenner's love life with a t-shirt – and critics all said the same thing
Kim Kardashian’s used to making headlines with her wardrobe choices, but she usually opts for more elaborate attire than a pretty basic t-shirt. And yet, social media is currently awash with chatter about a classic black tee she wore for a new TikTok with daughter North West. Not because of its uncharacteristically simple style, but because it is emblazoned with a cheeky dig at her younger sister Kendall Jenner. The top, captioned with the words “Kendall Starting Five” shows the supermodel surrounded by five of her NBA star exes: Devin Booker, Jordan Clarkson, Ben Simmons, Kyle Kuzma, and Blake Griffin. Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter It’s not the first time fans have clocked the sartorial joke, after Kim was filmed wearing the same shirt in the trailer for the latest season of ‘The Kardashians'. And whilst plenty of people have gone wild for the t-shirt, others have accused the older sibling of unnecessary cattiness: And scores of commentators pointed out how Kendall could get her own back, if she wanted to play her big sis at her own game. They suggested she wear her own top featuring a photo of Kim and her ex-boyfriend Ray J – a nod to the notorious sex tape that the then-couple created back in 2007. But, if you ask us, that would be a pretty disproportionately brutal response to what’s clearly a light-hearted quip at Kendall’s comparatively drama-free love life. The 27-year-old is currently linked to Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny but the two have yet to publicly confirm that they’re an item. Meanwhile, Kim is apparently dating a “mystery man” who she refers to using a code name. In a teaser for their eponymous reality Hulu show, Kim made reference to a love interest named only as “Fred”. At the end of March, a source told US Weekly: “Kim isn’t officially dating anybody, but there is somebody who she’s interested in.” Meanwhile, anyone who’d like to copy her style is in luck: the Kendall Starting Five t-shirt is widely available on Etsy. This Morning viewers brand Holly Willoughby's speech a 'rip-off' of The Morning Show
Holly Willoughby chose to address the ongoing Phillip Schofield scandal on This Morning today (5 June), but eagle-eyed viewers were quick to notice her long-awaited speech drew serious similarities to that of Jennifer Aniston's character in Apple TV's The Morning Show. While Willoughby opted to begin the show by saying "deep breath", Anniston's character, Alex Levy, says "stay strong" in a similar fashion. "To you at home, I understand how you must be feeling because I and the whole team here at The Morning Show are feeling the same way", Levy says in the scene where she apologises for her co-worker being struck off. Meanwhile, Willoughby echoed a similar sentiment, saying: "Firstly, are you OK? I hope so. It feels very strange sitting here without Phil and I imagine you might be feeling a lot like I have - shaken, troubled, let down." Click here to sign up for our newsletters

Who is 'The Driving Crooner' and why is he all over the internet?
Who is 'The Driving Crooner' and why is he all over the internet?
The Driving Crooner is popping up all over the shop, but who is he? A good Samaritan who picks up people who are way over-the-limit on a night out and drops them home is the easy answer, but the reality? He's the biggest meme from the new season of 'I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson'. Each season of the Netflix comedy has enjoyed a breakout skit with perhaps the defining one coming from the first season; The infamous 'hot dog man' - who is omnipresent in the replies of anything a politician ever tweets. A perfect response tweet to the ever-evolving disaster that is the 21st century. However, the Driving Crooner from the new season - season three - could be about to blow that away, and honestly; for no good reason apart from it being excruciatingly funny in the stupidest way. It's not a response to anything. It's just nuts. This explainer is not going to do it justice. Here are the memes, stay for the explanation. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter As explained, the skit starts with a man offering his number to colleagues so they avoid drink-driving (an accident had occurred to a colleague). One colleague takes the man up on this and calls him. Smartly dressed, he arrives taxi-like, picks the colleague up and drives off, starting some small talk. So far, so normal - but with only minutes in the sketch remaining, so many angles appear. Firstly, the man announces himself as The Driving Crooner - and nods to the decals on his driver-side window (a fedora and a cigar). Then he starts to scream and alter speeds as the traffic flows around him at speeds that do not line up the decals with his head (the others are trying to make him look fake). Then a bunch of "frats" arrive in an SUV and tell him they are going to kill him. Then he almost breaks out into tears wondering how he is ever going to make money from The Driving Crooner idea (it's too good, you see). Finally, he berates a dog-walker for "trying to steal his decals" (he is 50yds away, minimum). It's the perfect Tim Robinson skit of an earnest idea presented to the world by a man who thinks the world revolves around him, only to find out there is genuine lurking threat, a bit of sadness, and a whole lot of chaos.
