James Gunn responds to claim that Johnny Sins has been cast in Superman movie
James Gunn, the new head of DC Films and the director of the upcoming Superman: Legacy, has responded to a viral prank that porn star Johnny Sins had been cast as Lex Luthor in the movie. The film, which is set for a 2025 release will focus on a younger version of the Man of Steel but will not be an origin. The only names who have been cast so far are David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, as Clark Kent and Lois Lane respectively. However, a viral tweet joked that Superman's arch-nemesis Lex Luthor will be appearing in the movie and will be played by the famous male pornstar Johnny Sins due to the fact that both Sins and Luthor are bald. In a post that has since been shared more than 3000 times, Le Cinephiles wrote: BREAKING: Johnny Sins has been officially cast as Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s ‘SUPERMAN: LEGACY.’ Readers; Johnny Sins will not be playing Lex Luthor in Superman: Legacy although we would love to hear Warner Bros justify the casting decision. Although it shouldn't need clarifying because casting a pornstar in a major blockbuster probably wouldn't sit well with audiences, amazingly Gunn was asked if Sins will be in the movie. While promoting the upcoming Blue Beetle movie, Gunn was asked by several Twitter users if Sins was playing Luthor. One person asked the director: "You didn’t cast a porn star as Lex right? It’s so ridiculous…. It could be true." He quickly shut this down by asking why they would possibly believe that. Gunn also responded to an apparent report that seemed to believe that the casting of Sins was real. Although casting Sins would be an interesting choice, it's good to see Gunn at least having a bit of fun with the joke. This is the Maestro trailer that's causing major Bradley Cooper controversy
Bradley Cooper has sparked anti-Semitism claims after he appeared to wear a fake nose in a new film trailer about a Jewish man. The actor, who is playing musician Leonard Bernstein in Maestro, has been accused of 'playing into Jewish stereotypes' in the biopic. Cooper himself is not Jewish, prompting backlash that someone of the faith should've also landed the role, as well as British actor Carey Mulligan taking the role of his wife, despite not being half-Costa Rican. Goldilocks and the Three Bears horror movie trailer leaves fans disturbed
The trailer for Goldilocks horror movie spin-off, Three Bears: Death and Porridge has been released, and it's turned the classic into a twisted tale. Bears can be seen stirring cauldrons, suggesting they could be in on the sinister plans with Goldilocks herself. The film doesn't yet have a release date. Rachel Zegler has grown adults raging with her modern take on Snow White
Rachel Zegler has divided people over the comments she made about Disney's upcoming Snow White live-action remake, declaring the princess is "not going to be dreaming about true love". The 22-year-old actor who plays Snow White in the new adaptation set to be released next year has revealed what viewers can expect and how it will diverge from the original 1937 film. Rather than being a damsel in distress, Zegler described how her take on the character will portray her as "leader." Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter "It's no longer 1937. We absolutely wrote a Snow White that is not gonna be saved by the prince," she told Variety in September last year alongside co-star Gal Gadot, who plays the Evil Queen and also agreed with Zegler. "She’s not going to be saved by the prince and she’s not going to be dreaming about true love.” Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot on Bringing a New Modern Edge to 'Snow White' www.youtube.com "She’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be the leader that her late father told her that she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave and true." She added: "So, it’s just a really incredible story for young people everywhere to see themselves in.” In another interview with Entertainment Weekly, Zegler admitted she had only watched the original film once as she discussed the remake. Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot on 'Snow White' | D23 2022 | Entertainment Weekly www.youtube.com "I was scared of the original version. I think I watched it once and never picked it up again. I'm being so serious," she said. "I watched it once, and then I went on the ride in Disney World, which was called Snow White's Scary Adventures. Doesn't sound like something a little kid would like. I was terrified of it, never revisited Snow White again." Zegler also conveyed this message in an interview with ExtraTV where she called the Prince a "stalker" and joked that scenes from the remake including the Prince (played by Andrew Burnap) may get cut. Rachel Zegler Teases Hunger Games Prequel and FANGIRLS Over Jennifer Lawrence (Exclusive) www.youtube.com "The original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so. There's a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird! Weird! So we didn't do that this time," she said. "We have a different approach to what I'm sure a lot of people will assume is a love story just because we cast a guy in the movie," "All of Andrew's scenes could get cut, who knows? It's Hollywood, baby!" Since then Zegler's comments have prompted discussions online about the upcoming remake, with some criticising the actor's take that Snow White shouldn't dream about love. "It is not anti-feminist to want to fall in love, to want to get married, to want to stay at home, to be soft, to want to be a homemaker. None of these things makes you less valuable as a person or a woman," @cosywithangie said in a viral TikTok. "Criticising Disney princesses is not feminist. Not every woman is a leader. Not every woman wants to be a leader. Not every woman wants or craves power and that's ok." "You're right, it's no longer 1937, and you know what else women no longer have to do? Choose between a career or love, we can have both," @thechickflicksshow said. She then noted how other previous Snow White adaptations such as Snow White & The Huntsman (2012) and Mirror, Mirror (2012) allowed the princess to be her own saviour but she also found true love too. While @nuttybutter96 questioned why a remake was being made if Zegler "hated the original so much." "I don't think I've ever seen such a condescending, smug, Disney princess ever in my life," the TikToker said. "She made us sound like women only matter if they're hateful of love, hateful of any kind of romance, and we only exist to thrive and be a leader." However, some people have defended Zegler and believe the hate and criticism she's received is unwarranted. "Rachel Zegler is just another 22-year-old actor who has cameras in her face all the time and didn't give a perfect answer one time," @jstoobs said and called out those getting "weird" about the situation. “She made one comment about how Snow White has ambitions of her own that has nothing to do with romance, and suddenly everyone decided that women being damsels in distress is [feminist], actually," @waitforme_II tweeted. "But don't u guys remember Maleficent? That movie was good but she wasn't saved by the prince?" one commenter wrote, in reference to Maleficent (2014), the Disney live-action remake of Sleeping Beauty. "Robert Pattison is always hating on Twilight and Edward [Cullen] but everyone loves him for that," someone else noted. The live-action remake of Snow White is set to be released in March 2024. Barbie is still smashing box office records three weeks after hitting cinemas
It’s been out for more than three weeks, and yet Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is still painting the movie industry pink after smashing several fresh box office records. The new movie, starring Margot Robbie as the iconic doll, has become the highest-grossing movie at the US box office by a female director, solo or otherwise - much to the chagrin of Ben Shapiro. The previous record was held by Jennifer Lee, the director of Frozen 2, after the Disney film banked $477.4m at US box offices. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter But this Barbie just keeps breaking records. The movie hit $492.6m on Thursday 10 August, and it now stands at $526.3m in the US. Barbie also became the highest-grossing live-action movie by a female director after the fourth weekend in cinemas. The pink sensation overtook Captain Marvel, which earned $1.13bn globally in 2019 and was co-directed by Anna Boden. Gerwig's movie has now taken $1.18bn to date. The records keep tumbling despite the fact that Robbie was not even first choice for the role, which she revealed last week. The actor, who was also a producer on the movie, recently told Vogue that both her and director Greta Gerwig initially wanted Gal Gadot for the role but scheduling conflicts got in the way. “Gal Gadot is Barbie energy. Gal Gadot is so impossibly beautiful, but you don’t hate her for being that beautiful because she’s so genuinely sincere, and she’s so enthusiastically kind, that it’s almost dorky. It’s like right before being a dork,” she said. Barbie was also banned in Kuwait recently, and now faces calls for a ban in Lebanon amid complaints in the Arab nations about the film’s social values. There are currently no plans in the works for a sequel. “At this moment it’s all I’ve got. I feel like that at the end of every movie, like I’ll never have another idea and everything I’ve ever wanted to do, I did," Gerwig said in a recent interview. “I wouldn't want to squash anybody else’s dream, but for me, at this moment, I’m at totally zero." Jennifer Lawrence fans stunned by nude wrestling scene in her new movie
Jennifer Lawrence has left viewers of her new film No Hard Feelings stunned by a fight scene on a beach where the Oscar winning Hollywood A-lister is completely naked. The sex comedy movie was released earlier this year and was met with mixed reviews. The story focuses on Lawrence's character Maddie who discovers a lucrative job for the summer; dating an introverted 19-year-old, Percy, before he heads off to college. While the film didn't thrill critics it does hold an 87 per cent audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is now continuing to entertain people now. One particularly eye-opening scene has been catching viewers' attention for obvious reasons. The scene sees Lawrence and her co-star Andrew Barth Feldman go skinny-dipping on a beach. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter However, while the two are in the water a group of drunken teenagers attempt to steal their clothes which they have left on the sand. A naked Lawrence then exits the water and proceeds to fight the teenagers, even hitting one with a suplex. The scene is obviously played for shock value and it appears that it has achieved its goal. One viewer wrote: "MF did a whole Brock Lesnar German Suplex with her whole vagina out. Greatest fight scene in the history of fight scenes." Another said: "I 100% didn’t expect to see a naked Jennifer Lawrence suplex a delinquent like she was f**king Donnie Yen in this movie." A third wrote: "Never thought I ever wanted to see a naked Jennifer Lawrence do a perfect suplex on an asshole dude who was stealing her clothes but hey, that's why cinema is back" Speaking to Variety, Lawrence said that she had no hesitation about the scene despite some trepidation by her team. She said: "Everyone in my life and my team is doing the right thing and going, ‘Are you sure? Are you sure? Are you sure? I didn’t even have a second thought. It was hilarious to me.” No Hard Feelings will be available on Digital on August 15th. Have your say in our news democracy. TikTok has discovered what The Ketchup Song is actually about and our minds are blown
Anyone who lived through the noughties know the impact The Ketchup Song had, but people are just finding out what it's actually about. Taking to TikTok, Zara Larsson herself expressed her shock at realising the lyrics aren't all in Spanish, but instead, the chorus is a recreation of the 70s hit, Rapper's Delight. She explained how the storyline actually references a man who asks the DJ in a club to play his favourite song at midnight - but he can't think of the name, "The chrorus is from his pov and it sounds like gibberish because he is so drunk/high he cannot pronounce the words to the song correctly", one TikTok user pointed out. Dancers who filed lawsuit against Lizzo finally speak out about 'weight-shaming'
The dancers who filed a lawsuit against Lizzo have spoken publicly for the first time about the 'nuanced weight-shaming' they allegedly received from the singer. Arianna Davis and Crystal Williams appeared on NBC News, where they discussed the 'thinly-veiled' comments the body-positive singer would make about their appearance. "I just had this feeling that they had a problem with the way I was gaining weight and looking different and that I wasn’t 'the same' as when they first cast me", Davis says. "What I think people should take away is the fact that our experience is not an isolated experience." Sign up to our new free Indy100 weekly newsletter

A 'killer sloth' horror movie is coming and no one can take the trailer seriously
The trailer has dropped for a new 'killer sloth' movie, and fans can't help but compare its parody-like nature to Cocaine Bear. Directed by Matthew Goodhue, Slotherhouse follows the story of a sorority girl who adopts a pet sloth in a bid to become more popular with the girls she lives with. However, 'Alpha' the sloth turns murderous, stabbing girls in the shower and creeping up on them in bed. It comes across as pretty terrifying, until you remember...it's a sloth.
