NEW YORK CITY, UNITED STATES: Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise's ex wife and actor known for her role in 'Dawson's Creek', enjoyed a leisurely stroll in New York City on Friday, June 23. She exuded effortless style, wearing a black button-up top with ruched sleeves over a white t-shirt, paired with green trousers. Sporting dark glasses and comfortable Adidas Gazelle sneakers, she embraced a natural look with minimal makeup.
Accessories played a subtle role in Katie's ensemble as she carried a white bag on her shoulder and adorned herself with gold dangling earrings. Her flowing brunette hair gently swayed in the wind, parted to one side, and gracefully framed her shoulders. As she traversed the bustling city streets of Soho, the MTV Movie Award winner appeared serene and at ease.
Jack of all trades
Recently, Katie Holmes took on the role of director for the film ‘Rare Objects', now available for streaming on platforms like Amazon Prime, Google Play, iTunes, and Vudu. In this modern adaptation of Kathleen Tessaro's book, Holmes, who also co-wrote and starred in the film, portrays a young woman on a journey of recovery after experiencing the trauma of sexual assault.
Finding solace and support at an antique store, she strives to regain her confidence. However, her past demons resurface, threatening her progress. 'Rare Objects' marks Katie's third venture as a lead in a project and the second under her production company, Layfayette Pictures, which she established last year.
Women empowering women
During an appearance on 'The Drew Barrymore Show' in April, she expressed her admiration for Drew Barrymore's career and the inspiration it provided. Katie revealed that witnessing Drew's success in producing films like ‘Never Been Kissed’, ‘Charlie's Angels’, ‘Duplex’, and ‘Fever Pitch' had empowered her to embark on her own producing journey, realizing the potential for women in the industry.
"I'm such a fan of yours, and everything you've done in your career has been an inspiration, and it gives me confidence because when you started producing, it was like, 'Oh, we can do that? Women can do that?'' said Holmes. Katie added, "And so thank you, you give so much." Drew seemed appreciative of the compliment.
Notably, Holmes starred in and directed 'Alone Together' last year, a project that featured her daughter Suri's enchanting rendition of "Blue Moon" on the soundtrack. In March, Katie and Suri embarked on the college application process, navigating it without the involvement of Suri's father, Tom Cruise.
