LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Whoopi Goldberg remotely checked in 'The View' to clarify the reason behind her absence from the daytime show's Season 27 premiere.
Goldberg's clarification came after the co-hosts of the show revealed on Tuesday, September 5, that Goldberg had been diagnosed with Covid-19 for the third time.
Joy Behar dispels rumors on Whoopi Goldberg's condition
'The View' co-host Joy Behar said that viewers have created theories on their own about Goldberg's health condition.
"People write, 'Well, she got the vaccination, how come she still gets it?' Because she’s not dead, she’s just a little bit under the weather!", Behar said on the episode on Wednesday before showing Goldberg's video message.
"If you don’t get [the vaccination] and you get the disease, you might die … this type of irrational talk drives me nuts," the 80-year-old told co-hosts Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Ana Navarro.
When did Whoopi Goldberg contract Covid-19 before?
The 'Sister Act' star who is vaccinated, previously contracted the Covid-19 virus in January and November 2022, reported the New York Post.
Following the wild theories about her condition, Goldberg explained her situation in a video message she recorded from her bedroom.
"I am not at Burning Man. I am not still in Italy. I’m not trying to change the outcome of the election. I just have Covid" she said.
"I’m still testing positive. I have to have a clear test before I can come back, so it might be a couple of days, but I’m really thrilled to see the beautiful new desk," Goldberg continued.
"I’m really thrilled to see all the beautiful women … I’m sending you all great love and can’t wait to get back to our favorite place, 'The View'", she concluded.
The 67-year-old daytime show host's diagnosis comes amid concerns about the new Covid-19 variant, dubbed Pirola, spreading across the country.
Following the end of 'Call Me Claus' star's recorded video message, the in-studio audience and co-hosts of 'The View' applauded.
"Can I just tell you? Whoopi Goldberg, as we know, likes electric heated toilets. The chance of her being at Burning Man is zilch!" responded co-host Ana Navarro.
On ABC's 'Behind the Table' podcast, Brian Teta, the executive producer of 'The View' told Behar that the daytime show's team learned Goldberg will not be at the new season's premiere.
