Twilight director names who would play Edward and Bella if film was made today
Anyone growing up in the late noughties will understand the cultural impact of Twilight (2008), but what would the casting choices look like if the film was made today? The movie adaptation follows the romance between human Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) catapulting the actors into stardom. There is much debate online amongst Twihards as to which stars of the 2020s would be able to play the role of these characters. Catherine Hardwicke, the director of the first film has her thoughts on this topic in a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on the Watch-a-long podcast. Horowitz mentioned that Priscilla actor Jacob Elordi is a popular choice for many people to play Edward. To which Hardwicke replied: "Oh, that would be perfect." "Jacob Elordi...I mean, he's amazing. He probably would be Edward today. Exactly." The podcast host also named Wednesday and Scream actor Jenna Ortega, as a potential Bella Swan - a suggestion that Hardwicke approved of. “I do think there’s a lot of really cool young actors today. Of course, you just mentioned Jenna Ortega, she’s amazing," she said. Pattinson famously criticised the Twilight series he starred in and Elordi similarly spoke out about his experience in the Kissing Booth trilogy where he rose to fame. “I didn’t want to make those movies before I made those movies,” he told GQ. “Those movies are ridiculous. They’re not universal. They’re an escape. "You have no original ideas and you’re dead inside. So it’s a fine dance,” the Australian actor added. While this hypothetical reboot cast with Elordi and Ortega sounds fantastic, there is already a different Twilight project in the works. Lionsgate is developing a Twilight TV series, the project is in its early stages, and it's reported that the author of the series Stephanie Meyer is involved but the project doesn't belong to a network or platform at the moment, as per Entertainment Tonight. Olivia Dunne is now so famous it’s unsafe to attend her university classes
TikTok sensation and student gymnast Olivia Dunne has spoken about the impact fame has had on her everyday life, saying that it’s no longer safe for her to attend university classes. The viral star from Louisiana State University (LSU) has taken TikTok by storm over recent years, but it’s not always been easy for her to prioritise her safety. Dunne has been competing as a gymnast since 2014. She became a member of the US National Gymnastics Team in 2017. However, she has now revealed that she can no longer attend her LSU classes in person due to potential threats. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Speaking to Elle, Dunne said: “There were some scares in the past, and I just want to be as careful as possible. I don’t want people to know my daily schedule and where I am.” It’s not the first time concerns have been raised. Dunne faced a rowdy mob of young men while competing at the University of Utah earlier this year. Sources said the group of young men disrupted the competition, screaming “put Livvy in” to the point that security had to be called, according to Slate. The crazed fans made enough of an impact that LSU’s head coach, Jay Clark, said they’d be adding “security detail” when the team goes on the road. "We will be working to create a perimeter around where we get on the bus, where we load," Clark said according to TMZ. "I take our team's safety and security very seriously." Dunne took to Twitter on 8 January asking fans to "be respectful of the other gymnasts and the gymnastics community." “I will always appreciate and love the support from you guys, but if you come to a meet, I want to ask you to please be respectful of the other gymnasts and the gymnastics community as we are just doing our job,” she wrote. Model's dad 'staged an intervention' after discovering her adult account
An OnlyFans star has opened up about how her father “staged an intervention” after finding out about her X-rated career choice. Dre Delevingne spoke to Adam22 and Lena the Plug for their X-rated ‘Plug Talk’ podcast about her mum and dad’s discovery of her page on the subscription-only site. Delevingne explained that within 24 hours of setting up an OnlyFans account and posting a few “nudes”, her family were told about it. “They lost it,” she said, but admitted that she was “happy they found out” so quickly, because then she had “nothing to worry about.” “What was the source of your parents' rage? Just the fact that you were naked in general or was it the fact that you weren't taking advantage of the opportunities that they felt like they had afforded you?” Adam22 (real name Adam Grandmaison) asked. “Probably the second option,” she replied, acknowledging that they were “in shock”. However, she explained that she had always “deep down” wanted this life for herself, but felt that she couldn’t because of her “upbringing”. “[My parents] definitely were like, ‘Why did you do this? You could have had all of this’,” she recalled, adding that her response was: “But that doesn't make me happy, doing what I love makes me happy’.” Delevingne then recounted how her father “tried to [stage] an intervention” by waiting for her outside her home early one morning. “I basically walked out of my apartment and I was like, it's 6am, so I was asleep still and he was right in front of me,” she said. Describing his “rage and anger” she claimed her dad was “physical” with her, but stressed that she accepted this as “a father's reaction” However, she added: “Ever since then we just haven't been in no contact.” Asked whether she’d tried to “make sense” of her career choice to her dad, she said that she’d simply told him she’d “made [her] decision”. “He's like, ‘I'm taking everything away’. I'm like, ‘You can take it away, I can afford everything now’,” she recollected. “It felt so empowering to me that I was like, ‘Oh, no one can control me anymore’. It was just more like if I have to lose everything to get that, then that's OK with me.” Dre Delevigne on The Day Her Parents Found Her OF www.youtube.com Still, not all adult content creators suffer such rejection at the hands of their loved-ones. In an episode of ‘Plug Talk’ recorded last month, Emma Hix revealed how her mum reacted when she told her she was pursuing a career in porn. Admitting that she texted her mum to tell her, despite being just upstairs in the same house at the time, she said: “I thought she was going to freak out,” but instead she gave “total, full support”. “She was like, ‘I mean, I'm not happy that you're going to go do it [...] But she was also like, ‘Whatever you want to do, whatever makes you happy’.” Hix added: “Having that support, I would not be able to do this without it.” Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy.
