CANNES, FRANCE: The topic of Johnny Depp's "rotting teeth" has lately come up in online discussions as he left the Cannes Film Festival. He attended the presser for 'Jeanne Du Barry', a feature film in which the 59-year-old actor portrays King Louis XV. It has been the Hollywood star's first major project in three years.
Fans were shocked by the state of Johnny's "rotting" teeth at the event. After viewing photos of him from Cannes online, a social media user said, "He turning into 'Captain Jack Sparrow' for real," comparing him to his 'Pirates of the Caribbean' persona. Another person remarked that "Johnny Depp's teeth are literally rotting."

'Unfinished' root canal left Depp with 'rotten little stub'
But it had since come to light that about three decades before he was made fun of for his teeth, Johnny expressed his pride in them. He exclaimed, "I've got loads of cavities. I had a root canal done eight years ago that's unfinished. It's like a rotten little stub," as reported by Mirror.
He continued in the interview with Premiere Magazine by professing to "like" his grin and to be "proud" of his gnashers. He said, "It's like when the Indians would make something beaded, they would always put imperfections on it. I'm proud of these." Then, at the age of 31, the Hollywood hottie said that having "perfect teeth" would drive him crazy and added, "I'd rather swallow a tick than have that!"
'I don't think about Hollywood'
The 59-year-old actor addressed rumors that he had been "boycotted" in Hollywood the day before his Cannes appearance. Back in 2021, the actor had stated there was a "boycott" of him in Hollywood — this was before the Amber Heard libel lawsuit. But now, things seem to have changed for the better. Johnny now states he no longer feels "boycotted."
When asked if he ever felt "boycotted" by Hollywood, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor said that he has in the past but no longer feels that way. He further added, "Do I feel a boycott now? No, not at all. I don't feel boycotted by Hollywood because I don't think about Hollywood," as per reports. After that, Johnny declared that he doesn't need Hollywood any longer, remarking that it's a "strange" moment in which everyone "wants to be themselves, but they can't, they must fall in line, conform," as per reports.
