LAS VEGAS, NV: Internet icon Logan Paul has made a name for himself in WWE with his recent performances against some big names such as Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. However, his performance in Royal Rumble 2023 was quite spectacular which got the attention of WWE superstar Ricochet.
When Ricochet and Paul collided mid-air during the January 2023 Royal Rumble, it became a memorable moment for WWE fans. Ahead of this year's 'Money In The Bank' event in London, Ricochet shared his thoughts on the incident in an exclusive interview with Digital Spy.
‘It was awesome’
During the interview, Ricochet expressed, "It's funny, I never have the initial thought of, 'do this specific thing for like, a highlight'. I try to just do what I think is going to make Ricochet be remembered the most. That moment at Royal Rumble with Logan Paul is something that I don't think will ever happen again."
He further commented, "You've got to have the two right guys, the right scenario, the right everything. After it happened, seeing the reaction that it got from people was overwhelming, it was awesome. That's what you want, you want to exceed what you think is going to happen."
When WWE initially brought in Paul, some fans may have been skeptical or even laughed, but the YouTuber and boxer has consistently impressed every time he stepped into the ring, swiftly silencing any doubters.
‘He's got my respect’
Ricochet viewed the inclusion of Paul as a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of their brand, noting that Paul had not been able to defeat any of their top male singles competitors.
"[Paul] was in there with Roman [Reigns], he got beat up. He was in there with Seth [Rollins], he got beat up. So he can try to go after these guys but these guys have been doing it forever and although he has adapted very well, when it's someone like Roman or Seth, you're just not gonna get in there and beat them," he said. Ricochet also commended Paul for putting in the work after signing with WWE, saying, "he definitely is an athlete, he definitely cares about it and wants to get better.”
"He's always putting in the work to become better, so that's the stuff that I look at. If you just came in and didn't care and were doing whatever then I'd like, 'look at this guy. But he does care, he does want to get better and I can see that as someone who's done it for so long. I can see the little things that show that he does care. So he's got my respect for sure," he further stated.
