NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Madonna's health situation alarmed her fans to the point where many began to wonder if the 64-year-old "Queen of Pop" would ever tour again. The singer spent three nights in critical care in June after being brought to the hospital for a suspected bacterial infection.
The mother of Lourdes, Rocco, David, Mercy, Stella, and Estere, is eager to resume touring now that she is standing again, but her children are reportedly worried and telling her to "pace" herself in order to prevent further health decline, according to Heat Magazine. Moreover, Madonna's friends expressed concern stating that by burning herself out, she would experience the same fate as Michael Jackson, who died just days before his 2009 This Is It Tour.
Madonna's children want to 'talk some sense' into her
"Lourdes and Rocco have said for years that Madonna is one step away from disaster with the way she punishes herself, going overboard with the surgery and generally trying to act like she's still in her twenties," a source told the Heat Magazine, adding, that her children are telling her she "needs to change things." "It's a serious intervention and they're determined to see it all the way through," the insider further stated, continuing, "The kids all agree that they need to talk some sense into their mum and let her know this is a major wakeup call."
Will Madonna ever tour again?
It was reported that Madonna's family was "preparing for the worst" after her hospital run. Fortunately, the 'Like a Virgin' hitmaker overcame her health issues and is ready to resume touring. The pop queen spoke out about her well-being and future plans for the first time in weeks on Monday, July 10. She was reportedly rehearsing for her scheduled Celebration Tour when the emergency medical incident occurred.
Madonna wrote, "Thank you for your positive energy, Prayers and words of healing and encouragement. I have felt your love. I'm on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life," in a post addressed to her 19 million Instagram followers. The 'Like a Prayer' singer added, "My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour."
The "Queen of Pop" further stated, "I also didn't want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone. My focus now is my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I'll be back with you as soon as I can! The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin in October in Europe."
