DORADO, PUERTO RICO: The Ricochet and Logan Paul brutal aerial brawl can hardly be forgotten, as this year's Royal Rumble had some of the most memorable moments. But unfortunately, the WWE never followed through with it.
Now that Logan Paul is back on 'WWE Raw' after losing to Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 39, he's expected to replace Ricochet in the WWE Money in the Bank (MITB) ladder match and win the MITB briefcase. Right now, Paul's vision is to take revenge on Seth Rollins, a former MITB winner, as well as to become a world champion. And with the accomplishments he will be able to wrap up the loose ends from the Royal Rumble moments.
MITB ladder match
MITB ladder match 2023 will feature six WWE competitors - Ricochet, Shinsuke Nakamura, Damian Priest, Butch, Santos Escobar, and LA Knight. Ricochet, Nakamura, Butch, and Escobar are the four babyface competitors. In these ladder bouts, the WWE often wants to balance out their faces and heels. The fact that these competitors are scheduled three weeks before MITB is definitely not a coincidence. To keep the ratio at 50:50, there must be some kind of last-minute swerve where a heel takes the place of a babyface.
The pool of contenders for the men's MITB ladder match in the WWE is as balanced as it can get, except for the babyface-heel dynamics balancing act. Similar to Ricochet, Nakamura, the dark horse of the MITB, has been scheduled as Bronson Reed's punching bag and is in this battle for the big moments. Reed will likely take revenge on Nakamura in the match since he is pissed off over losing to him on 'WWE Raw'. Finn Balor or his protege JD McDonagh will brutally fight Damian Priest due to their recent conflicts, indications of 'The Judgment Day' discord, and shady backstage chats.
Logan Paul is the best choice
Butch is only involved in this bout since MITB is based in the UK, where he is from, but he is only a supporting character in The Brawling Brutes and has not been scheduled as a potential future world champion. Escobar, like Butch, is only a supporting character in the LWO and hasn't been booked with enough authority and momentum to become a future world champion. Even though LA Knight is the crowd favorite to win the MITB, he was on a losing run a month ago. Hence, Paul is currently one of their greatest contenders when compared to the other fighters.
In contrast to the current MITB Ladder Match competitors, he has faced big eventers like Roman Reigns, The Miz, and Seth Rollins in singles battles. Paul has shown that he can hold his own in the major leagues despite not being a full-time superstar like the other hardworking ones in the locker room. He would seamlessly blend in as "Mr MITB" in the main event if he were to win MITB for shock effect. Paul did state that he aims to capture a championship in 2023 after signing his new deal with the WWE. Perhaps his "broken dream" will eventually come true if he gets to compete in MITB.
