LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The ‘TODAY’ show has made a huge mistake if the viewers are to be believed. The morning program has been airing a lot of pieces in a bid to gear up and celebrate Father’s Day. One such segment was purposefully created for all the male hosts of the show, Al Roker, Craig Melvin, Carson Daly, and Sunday Today star Willie Geist to sit face to face and discuss the beauty and perils of fatherhood ahead of Father’s Day.
The four hosts were seen at a BBQ restaurant and bar named Pig Beach in Queens, New York to reflect on what being a father has meant to each of them. Although it was an interesting quorum of four gentlemen letting their innermost feelings out about fatherhood, the viewers spotted a fan-favorite Weekend anchor of ‘Today’ show, Peter Alexander missing from this group. Even though his absence was questioned, the four hosts poured their hearts out about their children, making for an engrossing watch for the viewers.
'It’s the craziest thing'
When the Father’s Day segment kicked off, Carson said, “That time of the year, boys. Love the Today show dad segment we get together, it’s so fun.” Carson who has three daughters with his wife Siri expressed that, “The art of fatherhood is trying to slow down the hands of time. Trying to take in the moment.” Willie, who has daughter Lucie and son George with his wife Christina, shared how unbelievable it is that his daughter can already drive, as it feels like only recently she was in a car seat.
Al reflected on becoming a first-time grandfather soon. He said, "It’s the craziest thing. You’re carrying them, and then all of a sudden, you realize your oldest is carrying a baby.” Al has a daughter Courtney with ex-wife Alice Bell who is pregnant with her first child. Al is also father to a daughter Leila and a son Nick with his wife Deborah Roberts. Later, Craig opened up about his struggle to connect with his daughter Sybil as Carson suggested he learn how to do his daughter’s hair. The four hosts enjoyed a pleasant conversation on fatherhood but despite that the viewers did question the absence of Peter Alexander.
Why was Peter Alexander missing from Father's Day segment?
Peter Alexander is the weekend anchor for the ‘Today’ show. He’s adored by the fans of the show due to his likable personality and his absence in segments where Al, Carson, and Craig are present was not appreciated by the fans. However, the ‘Today’ executives haven’t revealed the reason behind Peter’s exclusion from the Father’s Day segment. The Father’s Day segment would have been more exciting with Peter present to give his invaluable insights on fatherhood.
