LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Good Morning America’ host Michael Strahan is finally back at the studio desk. A prolonged absence saw the former NFL star away from his anchoring duties for nearly two weeks but as of July 31, Michael has resumed his duties as one of the host of the morning show. Although, the 51-year-old has managed to keep himself busy while away from the studio.
Michael kept his social media accounts active and updated, posting about his wellness brand and promoting his other gig, ‘The $100,000 Pyramid.’ However, his return to ‘GMA’ has been equally entertaining. The ‘GMA’ star was up and running with his news segments but also managed to anchor two fun-filled food segments which included preparing cupcakes on live air and a steady invitation to ‘The Flavors of the Open’ at the US Open on August 24.
Why was Michael Strahan missing from ‘GMA’?
Michael returned to the studio on July 31 for the Monday morning broadcast in the absence of George Stephanopoulos. He was assisted by Robin Roberts and Whit Johnson in his duties but chose to remain silent about his whereabouts in the previous week. However, anyone tracking the ‘GMA’ host social media accounts would have seen him promoting ‘The $100,000 Pyramid' or his wellness brand from time to time.
Apart from that, there was no particular update from the former NFL star whose non-appearance from ‘GMA’ extended close to two weeks. Although, he did quite make up for it on his jovial and spirited return to the show. In between delivering the news for the day, ‘GMA’ had invited the founder of Unique Sweets Liza Pereira from Chicago whose baking business employs adults with autism and all sorts of developmental challenges. Michael anchored this segment to everyone’s delight and enjoyed a fun banter with one of the guests.

‘GMA’ appreciated and celebrated Liza’s altruistic attempts to help society at large by giving autistic adults a chance to receive meaningful employment. In this segment, a table full of cupcakes was kept before Michael and one of Liza’s employees, an autistic adult. He showed Michael how to put whipped cream over the cupcakes and Michael went about his job, later asking the guest, “How does it look?” The guest responded, “Yeah! It looks a little better”, as everyone in the studio burst into laughter as Michael stood and questioned the guest’s statement.
Later, Michael was also spotted in an Instagram video with Chef Josh Capon and Melba Sharlem, owner of Melba Restaurants as he invited the viewers to attend the ‘Flavors of the Open’ at the US Open on August 24. ‘Flavors of the Open’ offers the opportunity to experience the wide-ranging culinary offerings of delectable cuisine from the chefs of the US Open, including David Burke, Josh Capon, Alex Guarnaschelli, Pat LaFrieda, Kwame Onwuachi, Masaharu Morimoto, James Kent, and Melba Wilson. After a long hiatus, Michael has surely returned on a high, promoting all that he can on his return to the show.
