INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA: HGTV's 'Good Bones' is all set to return with Season 8, featuring more small-scale damaged properties for Mina Starsiak Hawk and Karen E Laine to transform into stunning and magnificent abodes.
The upcoming season of the popular HGTV show, which debuted back in 2016, will see the mother-daughter duo renovating homes in Indiana. Season 8 marks the "end of an era" as Mina and Karen will wrap up the stirring renovation show this year.
Who are in 'Good Bones' Season 8 cast?
Mina Starsiak Hawk
Mina Starsiak Hawk is an artist and a pro at reviving old buildings. With a keen real-estate acumen and a strong sense of purpose, Mina believes in bringing old buildings back to life while optimizing functionality and maintaining their original characteristics.
Mina has starred in 'Good Bones', 'Rock The Block' and 'A Very Brady Renovation'. Mina is also co-founder and owner of Two Chicks and a Hammer.
Besides appearing on HGTV, the 35-year-old is the author of 'Built Together', a children's book that offers a diverse point of view about families. Mina loves spending her spare time with her family, which her husband Stephan, their children Jack and Charlotte, and their three dogs, Frank, Beatrice, and Sophie.
Now that 'Good Bones' is wrapping up Season 8, Mina will focus more on caring for her family and taking a breath while she figures out what's next. However, she recently announced a new role as Chief Design and Build Officer for the home improvement brand Character.
Karen E Laine
Karen E Laine used to be a full-time lawyer. She studied law at the Robert H McKinney School of Law at Indiana University.
Karen started working as a defense attorney soon after completing her graduation. According to Karen's LinkedIn profile, she began her career in 1990, working as an associate attorney for Cohen & Malad.
Karen later took on a Deputy Prosecutor role for the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. Moreover, she provided criminal defense, family law, mediation, and guardian ad litem services at Jensen Law.
However, Karen eventually made a switch from the courtroom to television. She starred in HGTV's 'Good Bones' and now occasionally practices law. She recently resigned from her daughter Mina's company, Two Chicks and a Hammer to spend more time with her husband Roger.
Karen started dating Roger in 2015 and celebrated their wedding anniversary on September 23, 2020. Roger has also appeared in Season 3 of 'Good Bones' and Karen has supported him through his cancer battle.
Karen shares three children, Mina, William, and CR Starsiak, with her ex-husband Casey Starsiak. Karen also shares her youngest daughter, Kelsy, with her second husband Randy.
Tad Starsiak
Tad Starsiak is Mina's half-brother and a hunky demolition expert. Tad lost his mother at a very young age and grew up close to Karen, who is not his blood relative but his godmother.
Tad and Karen work together and are as close as any two family members. Tad works as a project manager at Two Chicks and a Hammer, the company behind the renovations we see on 'Good Bones'.
When he is not managing projects, Tad takes part in demolitions. Tad started doing the demolitions when he was eight years old, hoping to earn some extra money.
He kept on doing demolitions through high school and eventually joined the company, long before his television debut. Tad has been known for roof parkour and wrestling with the crew, smashing windows, and throwing clawfoot tubs from an upper floor in the HGTV show.
Notably, his demolition day mischiefs make the viewers laugh. Tad also owns a clothing business, Love Heals.
Tad is happily in a relationship with his longtime girlfriend, Anna Marie. He popped the question to Anna in June 2023 and reflected on it in a lengthy Instagram post.
Kelsy Spaeth
Kelsy Spaeth received a degree in psychology and French from Indiana University Bloomington. She kicked off her career working at a pizza restaurant and as a help desk intern while she was still in college.
After she graduated, she joined PepsiCo as a sales associate and was later promoted to district sales leader. Kelsy stepped in to help her sister Mina's company Two Chicks and a Hammer fill some of the gaps after their mother Karen resigned.
Kelsy took on the role of Chief Business Officer of Two Chicks and a Hammer in 2018. She also had one of her first appearances on 'Good Bones'.
Like her mother, Kelsy lacked a formal design or real estate background. However, after leaving Mina's firm, Kelsy began work as a senior project manager at Studio Science.
Besides having a strong work ethic, Kelsy has also made sure to focus on her family. In November 2020, Kelsy married her longtime boyfriend, Neil Spaeth. After dating for three years, he finally proposed to her in Paris.
Kelsy mostly loves to keep her life and social media private. She is all set to appear in the upcoming finale season of HGTV's 'Good Bones' along with her mother Karen and sister Mina.
'Good Bones' Season 8 will premiere on Tuesday, August 15 at 9 pm ET on HGTV.
