LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Good Morning America’ star George Stephanopoulos’ wife Ali Wentworth recently posted an Instagram Story in which she called a man named Jess Cagle her "second husband".
Although this may surprise her followers, but on closer inspection, it looks like he is someone Ali has known for a long.
The words “second husband” were only a term of endearment, meant to denote how close Jess is to the 58-year-old actress. There was no scandalous tone to Ali’s post.
But some fans were confused and didn’t know the identity of the man Ali was in the photo with. They later found out that it was the renowned entertainment journalist Jess Cagle.
Who is Jess Cagle?
Jess Cagle is a 58-year-old prominent entertainment journalist who served as the editor in chief of People magazine from 2014 to 2019. During his successful stint at the magazine, he grew its audience to 100 million across print, digital, and video, and led its successful expansion into television.
He also served as an editor of Entertainment Weekly from 2009 to 2014 and was later honored by the Brady Center for People’s campaign against gun violence, and by the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) for his advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community throughout his career.
Throughout his career, Cagle has interviewed Hollywood's biggest celebrities, including Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Aniston, George Clooney, and Elizabeth Taylor.
Cagle has appeared frequently on TV, including on shows like ‘Today’, ‘GMA' and ABC’s Oscar pre-show, and regularly hosts 'The Jess Cagle Interview’, which has aired on People’s digital platforms and SiriusXM Radio.
Ali Wentworth celebrates Jess Cagle’s birthday
The ‘GMA’ star’s wife took to Instagram and added a snap of Jess and herself to her Story. Given Ali’s enthusiasm about Jess, the duo’s bond seems solid and extremely friendly.
Ali wrote in her Story, “Happy Birthday to @mrjesscagle my 2nd husband and the only person that can revert me back to a giggling 12-year-old!” Ali can be seen walking hand in hand with Jess near a waterfront. This was followed by another photo of her on a yacht with Jess and a friend.
Ali once appeared on ‘The Jess Cagle Interview’ and spoke about how grateful she is to have her husband as a teacher in her life. She said in the interview addressing her husband, “With social faux pas and moral issues, yes, I go to you. You taught me how to say no. I said yes to everything.”
