LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rihanna has announced that she is stepping down as the chief executive officer of her lingerie brand, Savage X Fenty, which she founded in 2018. The Barbadian singer has revealed a fashion executive as her replacement.
Hillary Super, the former chief executive of the US fashion, home, and beauty company Anthropologie Group, was named as the new CEO of Rihanna's underwear venture, according to Vogue Business. As per the reports of the outlet, Rihanna will continue to serve in a leadership role as executive chair of the brand.
'This is just the beginning for us'
“It’s been beautiful to see our vision for Savage X Fenty impact the industry at such an incredible magnitude over the last five years. This is just the beginning for us, and we’re going to continue to expand in ways that always connect with the consumer", Rihanna said in a statement. "I’m so grateful and excited to welcome Hillary Super as our new CEO – she is a strong leader and is focused on taking the business to an even higher level."
The handover is scheduled to take place on June 26. The outlet has previously reported that the 9-time Grammy Award winner has an estimated net worth above $1.4 billion. Just like her makeup line, when Savage X Fenty was launched in 2018, it received a positive response from customers for its diversity, especially regarding a wide range of sizes and skin tones.
Who is Hillary Super?
Anthropologie's Hillary Super was included in the 2017 US list of “Forty women to watch over 40” for “revitalizing retail and breaking stereotypes”. The listing said she wanted to mentor fashion entrepreneurs, adding: “She is focused on being a mentor in two key ways – being a strong, kind, relatable leader and role model for young women and using her unique platform as a gay woman in fashion to break stereotypes and help young women visualize their unique future.”
Super also worked in a leadership capacity at household name brands including American Eagle, Guess, Gap, and Old Navy. Besides, she also shared on Instagram that she’s not only taking over as CEO but will also be a Savage x Fenty board member. “Really pleased to finally be able to share that I am joining SavageXFenty as CEO and board member,” she captioned the post.
The new CEO also seems to be a talented cook according to her Insta profile. “Last cookbook club of the season. This month: Gjelina! Lots of beautiful veggie-forward dishes. I made the chocolate tart- not the prettiest but very good. Recommend!” she captioned along with a photo of herself in a kitchen with a newly-made delicacy on April 23.
