LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Accused property snatchers Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are dragging California's former First Lady Maria Shriver into a real estate court battle in an 83-year-old Army vet's mansion.
The A-list couple is attempting to refute allegations that Carl Westcott was coerced into signing a $15 million purchase agreement by their business representative, Bernie Gudvi while suffering from dementia and under the influence of painkillers from back surgery.
Why is Maria Shriver involved in Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom property row?
'The Roar' singer and her 'Lord of the Rings' fiancee called Westcott a "deal junkie" with "extraordinary real estate experience." They claimed he was trying to sell the house to Arnold Schwarzenegger's ex-wife, Shriver to flip it for a tidy $3.75 million profit.
The couple's lawyer Eric V Rowen filed a court document that states, "Before any surgery or painkillers, Westcott realized the profit available through a sale of the Montecito (California) house and began to negotiate the sale of the property."
"Indeed, before Gudvi came along, Westcott negotiated with a broker representing Maria Shriver, first offering to sell for $13 million, then $13.5 million, and finally $15 million. In other words, before any surgery or painkillers, Westcott set the $15 million sale price with a different proposed buyer."
The shocking claims were exposed in court documents attempting to have Dr Gary W Small, Westcott's expert witness, remove his testimony. Dr Small determined that the founder of 1-800-Flowers was experiencing dementia at the time he signed the document in 2020.

According to documents filed on August 14, the fistfight recently became more heated when Perry and Bloom claimed that Westcott's family had attempted to demonize them in public by releasing images of the sickly, bedridden businessman to the media.
The legal document states, “Gudvi sympathizes with Westcott’s current medical condition, but it is not relevant to the issue in this litigation—whether Westcott was competent to sell his house more than three years ago.
Westcott’s circulation of photos of him in a facility in his current state is intended to distract from the legal issue, and they are neither relevant nor productive for resolving this case.”
In 2020, the couple filed a lawsuit against Westcott, and they kept pressing his real estate agent to ask them if they would accept the $15 million counteroffer.
