LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Colin Cowherd, host of 'The Herd' on Fox Sports and an NFL analyst, claimed that the rumored romance between pop icon Taylor Swift and footballer Travis Kelce was primarily a calculated publicity stunt.
On his FS1 show, the sports journalist stated, "I'm not usually into this stuff, and my gut feeling is they're trolling all of us, but the Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift relationship is potentially fantastic."
"I have a feeling, the Kelce's are very good with social media, his brand is exploding and he's on like six commercials now," added Cowherd, as per Daily Mail.
When did Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce start dating?
Rumors surrounding Taylor Swift dating the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce took full reign on Sunday, September 23, when the 33-year-old singer was spotted at a match between the Chiefs and Chicago Bears.
In Swift's presence, Travis turned on the style and scored a touchdown in an easy win for the defending Super Bowl champs and his team managed to pull off a massive victory at 41-10.
The 'Blank Space' singer was seen at a suite at the stadium with Travis' mother, Donna Kelce, and later reportedly left Arrowhead Stadium with him in an open-top car.
Has Travis Kelce's popularity increased since getting linked to Taylor Swift?
Truth be told, Travis Kelce has been one of the most popular NFL players ever since he was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013.
He is a two-time Super Bowl champion with a number of endorsement deals and also hosts a popular podcast called 'New Heights' with his brother Jason Kelce, a Philadelphia Eagles player.
However, after being associated with Taylor Swift, Travis has managed to reach a whole new audience.
The Chiefs-Bears game beat every primetime NFL matchup on the weekend slate, as well as ranked first for women aged 12-49. This surge has been attributed to the singer's die-hard fans, the Swifties. Since the game, Kelsey's No. 87 jersey saw a massive rise in sales, according to Daily Mail.
"Yesterday, Travis Kelce was one of the top 5 selling NFL players and saw a nearly 400% spike in sales throughout the Fanatics network of sites," reportedly stated a Fanatics spokesperson.
On the NFL Shop website, a limited edition red replica of Travis' jersey costs fans $175, while a standard "player game jersey" costs fans $130.
