LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The 54-year-old singer-songwriter Mariah Carey is taking a break from her busy schedule to spend some quiet afternoon time with her 12-year-old daughter Monroe. Carey, who is the mother to the twins Monroe and Moroccan with former husband Nick Cannon, took to her Instagram to share pictures from a fun outing that included horse riding.
In the first photo, Monroe, called Roe by Carey, is wearing a riding helmet and hugging her mother tight. The second photo is a solo snap of Monroe riding a horse. The ‘Touch My Body’ songstress shared the post with the caption, "Daytime excursion with DemTwins ❤️.” While Carey is setting up an example by spending quality time with her daughter and son Moroccan, despite having a busy schedule, she has always been an exemplary mom.
Who has custody of Mariah Carey's twins?
Mariah Carey happily co-parents her twins, Moroccan and Monroe with their father Nick Cannon. The ‘Fantasy’ singer previously told People in an interview in 2019, "They're a lot, but they give me so much love in return. I wouldn't be the same person without them.” Mentioning specifically that the former couple who were married from 2008 to 2016, co-parent the twins, "I think Nick and I have done pretty well in co-parenting, staying friends with each other so that we can talk."
This year, in an interview with Jason Lee in ‘The Jason Lee Podcast’, Cannon too opened up about the co-parenting situation. Saying that Carey is his best friend she often checks on him. When the host asked him what Carey makes of his 12 children, the ‘America's Got Talent’ host replied, "She high frequency, man. She always asks me, ‘You aight? You good? How you doing? You handling it all?’” He continued, “She’s like, ‘As long as you don’t bring none of that bullshit to the Manor of Carey. Like, she lives in her own world. Nothing can infiltrate that stuff. When we talk daily, she’s just checking on my spirit."
Talking about the arrangement they have over the custody of their 12-year-old twins, Cannon shared his views about a rumor of Carey seeking full custody. He said, "I think there was a narrative out there that she was seeking custody — we got dinner the night before that. I was like, 'Did some shit happen that I don't know about?'" before adding, "People will create low frequency messages to try to say that there's something wrong so she encourages me, she's like, 'Yo, let's make sure that we're on the same page every day so if some bullshit comes up, we know that it ain't true.'"
In another interview with People, Cannon said about their blended family, “It’s kinda the norm. It’s all rooted in love, it’s all rooted in positive energy,” before adding why he and Carey opted for co-parenting, “There’s no hard feelings and ill will. Ultimately, it’s about putting the kids first and making sure they have the best childhood they could possibly have.”
'We are the best of friends now'
In the same podcast interview with Jason Lee, Cannon even talked about his easy relationship with Carey. Despite being a former couple, Cannon is still friends with Carey. When he was asked about rekindling the relationship with the songstress, he said, "I never experienced that level of love from everyone. [But] that was over a decade ago. We are the best of friends now."
He further said that while they were divorcing, they never argued. However, he doesn’t want to disturb Carey as she is in a relationship Bryan Tanaka, saying, "She's in a relationship and she's happy, I don't want to disturb that. For our children, which is the best thing and the thing that we focus on, this scenario is a lot healthier for all of us."
'Beautiful the love you bring'
Naturally, the fans flooded the comment section of the Instagram post praising the 'Obsessed' singer. One fan said, "Love seeing you spending such quality time with dem kids!! And Queen is out here looking like DaydreamRiah ??." The second said, "
