LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The buzz around Britney Spears' autobiography, 'The Woman in Me', has been extremely high since it was announced. The singer's legal team, however, is reportedly worried that her statements can be used against her in the impending divorce battle.
Spears, 41, has been in the news due to her split from her 29-year-old husband Sam Asghari. The divorce suit, submitted on Wednesday and seen by BBC News, claimed the couple have "irreconcilable differences."
While her followers eagerly await her upcoming autobiography, Britney's lawyers are concerned that it will be used against her in divorce court, as reported by Radar Online.
When will Britney Spears' autobiography be released?
The much-awaited autobiography of Britney Spears, 'The Woman in Me', will be out on October 24. It is being published by Gallery Books, a Simon & Schuster imprint.
The biography is expected to disclose "for the first time her incredible journey (and) strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history.”
It also "illuminates the enduring power of music and love — and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms," a People report on July 12 said.
What makes Britney Spears' lawyers wary?
However, according to reports, the pop singer's star attorney, divorce expert Laura Wasser, is worried the manuscript may be leaked after the couple's split.
"Britney’s autobiography had a happy ever after. It told the story of how she found love with Sam, and how she viewed him as the one. It was a real-life fairytale, at least according to the manuscript," a source told RadarOnline.com.
What did Britney Spears' lawyer Laura Wasser say?
"Britney’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, is frightened that the unpublished manuscript could come out before it is re-written and it could be used against her in the divorce," as quoted by Radar Online.
"If Britney cheated on Sam, and she is telling a vastly different story in her book, it’s a disaster," the source continued.
"Sam could use that as leverage to walk away with a much sweeter deal than he ever could have expected: spousal support, legal fees, a fat hefty payout, and a torn-up prenup," the insider detailed, adding, "The timing of the split to coincide with the biography is an utter disaster."
Britney Spears and Sam Asghari's relationship
The Iranian-American actor, model, and fitness trainer reportedly met Spears while she was filming the video for her song 'Slumber Party' in 2016.
Asghari was reportedly a staunch supporter of her quest to get rid of her father Jamie's conservatorship, which she achieved just months before their marriage, as per BBC.
