NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: NBC’s ‘Today with Hoda and Jenna’ host Jenna Bush Hager often shares her personal experiences on the show alongside co-host Hoda Kotb and even talks about her three children, Poppy, Mila, and Hal. She recently shared her experience on what it was like to watch ‘Barbie’ with her daughter Poppy and admitted to "crying multiple times" while watching the popular movie by Greta Gerwig starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
During a recent ‘Today with Hoda and Jenna’ broadcast, Jenna Bush Hager shared her views of the ‘Barbie’ movie with co-host Hoda Kotb. She notably enjoyed the storyline as it reflected on "what it means to be a woman." She also revealed that she saw the film with her youngest daughter, Poppy, 7, and a friend and her daughter.
‘I was weeping’
During a segment on ‘Today with Hoda and Jenna’ on July 25, Hager praised the film, calling it "beautiful" and noting that it exceeded expectations in a unique way as she said, “The film lives up to its hype, but in a different way than you think it’s going to.” Hager added that she found herself crying and said, “It’s beautiful.” While viewing the movie, “I cried, and I know I’m an easy crier,” she exclaimed.
Hager expressed her admiration for the ‘Barbie’ movie's storyline, which delves into “what it means to be human, what it means to be a woman, what it means to be a mother, all of those things. And I was weeping.” She emotionally revealed that the movie moved her to tears and she was captivated by its powerful message. Jenna also shared a sentimental bracelet related to ‘Barbie’ as she said, "I also have a bracelet that says, ‘Come on, Barbie, let's go party’,” thoughtfully made by her friend's daughter. Hager watched the movie with her youngest daughter, Poppy, who wore cute "Barbie shorts" to the theater. Although Hager initially tried to "deck out" in Barbie attire, she ended up wearing a pink sweater, which perfectly complemented the movie's “super visually compelling” theme of pink aesthetics.
While considering the PG-13 rating, Jenna suggested that Kotb could bring her 6-year-old daughter, Haley. She said, “It was really fun, you should go.” She continued, “There is a lot of talk about what is underneath the Barbie skirt. I’ve always wondered about that, but most of that goes over her head so it doesn’t matter.”
Jenna Bush Hager’s daughter Mila’s letter to little sister Poppy
Earlier last week, Hager recalled a touching moment on the live show involving her eldest daughter Mila’s heartfelt letters from camp to her little sister, Poppy. During the show, Hager opened up about this beautiful sisterly bond, reflecting on the love and connection shared between her daughters. She said, “I’m hearing every. Single. Thing.” She also said that while at camp, Mila “wrote Poppy this letter that made Henry and I weep, which was like, ‘You’re going to feel homesick. You’re going to feel homesick, but the difference is, I got you.’”
