Spoilers for ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Episode 5
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The murder trial of Mitchell Bondurant finally kicks off with a preliminary hearing in court as Mickey Haller decides to cross-examine a witness that the public prosecutor Andrea Freeman didn’t heed much attention to. Most of the evidence in the case puts Lisa Trammel as guilty but Mickey has an ace up his sleeve. The final episode of Season 2 Part 1 primarily focuses on the court battle between Mickey and Andrea who has an unbeaten record against the popular LA defence attorney.
Even though Mickey doesn’t uncover substantive evidence to acquit Lisa, he fights to create a sense of reasonable doubt in the mind of the judge to help by questioning Margo Schafer, Bondurant’s receptionist and the only valuable witness in the case. Margo testified that she saw Lisa near her boss but Mickey manages to break her testimony. Feeling victory close in on him, Mickey is elated but Andrea introduces a forensic analyst who testifies that Lisa’s gardening gloves had Bondurant’s blood on him. Mickey is furious as he leaves the courtroom with Lisa and shouts at her for not completely being honest with him. Lisa tries to prove her innocence but Mickey doesn’t heed any attention to it.
Did Lisa Trammel really kill Mitchell Bondurant?
Lisa admits later that she was outside Bondurant’s building on the day of his murder and given the fact that Bondurant’s blood was discovered on Lisa’s gardening gloves, it’s tough to convince the judge or the jury that Lisa was truly innocent. Also, the murder weapon is not yet located. The hammer which was used to kill Bondurant has still not been found and Lisa’s toolbox still has a missing hammer. If that is found, it might be game over for Lisa. Mickey is slowly fed up with Lisa’s secrets and her ability to apologize for keeping things from him.
When Mickey asks Lisa to talk to her ex-husband, Jeff, she shouts at him. Although, Mickey reaches out to Jeff but he disconnects stating that he doesn’t want anything to do with Lisa. And for some odd reason, Lisa wants Mickey to believe her. But for now, it’s becoming extremely hard for the Lincoln Lawyer to trust her. It’s still not clear that Lisa is the real killer but given the circumstances, it’s becoming nearly impossible for anyone to believe otherwise, especially Mickey.
Does Mickey Haller survive the beating?
Mickey is in the office, working on Lisa’s case after the preliminary hearing when he receives a link from Izzy about Henry Dahl striking a lucrative deal for the podcast on Lisa’s ongoing case to be adapted into a series. This irks him. Mickey made Lisa sign a contract that gave him the power to sell Lisa’s life rights to a studio or channel for commercial purposes. But Henry who paid for Lisa’s bail scooped in and tried to sabotage Mickey’s contractual obligation with Lisa.
