NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a recent episode of ‘Today with Hoda and Jenna’, host Jenna Bush Hager took a swipe at her co-host, Hoda Kotb, by saying she got "fired" from a surprising job in the past.
On the episode on Tuesday, July 11, Hager and Kotb went up against one another in a sundae-making contest. The two hosts started taking shots at each other while getting into the competitive spirit.
Jenna Bush Hager's jab at Hoda Kotb
During the said segment, as Kotb displayed her sundae ingredients on her table, Hager was displeased by one particular item. Kotb mentioned various caramel toppings and crushed candies before picking up a piping bag with a white ingredient. Hager protested, "You don't even know what it is! That was just for me! I asked for that!" She tried to grab it from Kotb's table but she was blocked and instructed to stay on her own side.
As the competition heated up, both hosts proceeded to create their sundaes. Kotb playfully warned, "Don't copy me, Jenna," to which her co-host insisted she was not. When a guest host complimented Kotb's ice-cream scooping skills, she confessed to previously working at an ice cream shop. Hager interjected, "She got fired!" Kotb admitted it was true and said, "Well, it wasn't my fault." Hager then humorously added, "She sure did though." Eventually, a boy was brought in to taste test and declared Hager the winner.
Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb’s playful banter
In June, Kotb jokingly scolded her co-host for accidentally cursing during a segment on the show. The incident took place during a game called 'What's the Name of This Game Again?' where associate producer Sean Hickey acted as the host. Kotb and Hager were asked questions. When Jenna responded to a clue about a movie, she exclaimed, "She falls in love with the dad from Schitt's Creek!" Kotb and Hickey both reacted to the wordplay, cautioning Jenna about saying it multiple times due to its similarity to a curse word. They emphasized that the phrase could only be used once in the context of the game.
