NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Speculation about the future of 'Live with Kelly and Mark' has surfaced once again. Mark Consuelos has come forward to reveal his new career plans, but it seems that the talk show is not one of them.
The actor talked about changing his career path after trying talk shows and acting with 'Riverdale' and now wants to try something new. 'Live' was recently taken over by the 52-year-old alongside his wife Kelly Ripa.
Mark Consuelos hopes to join the theater
In an interview with Deadline, Mark told us that he wants to try his hand at theater. "I also want to do some theater in New York...," the actor said. However, he seemed unsure as he went on to say that getting into another art could be a difficult transition for him. "...there are not many decisions that we make these days at our age that we don't mull over a lot."
Mark played Hiram Lodge in the popular Netflix series 'Riverdale.' He was part of the series for the first five seasons before deciding to split last year. The actor decided to come back on board for the series finale, which was announced by The CW last year. In the interview, he shared that he will appear in the drama for one episode. "I think the fans will be happy with the episode and what Hiram does. It feels like goodbye," Mark shared, "It definitely feels like goodbye."
What's in store for 'Live with Kelly and Mark'?
Mark joined the show in April, along with his wife Kelly, after original host Ryan Seacrest decided to permanently end his time on the show. Barely two months after joining the show, Mark and Kelly, along with the talk show, decided to take a summer break and aired pre-recorded shows with guest hosts replacing Mark, including Ryan Seacrest.
The show has been repeatedly criticized by viewers for only doing pre-recorded broadcasts, as even the episodes with Kelly and Mark are taped every week and month before they actually air. While the show did well when Ryan was on it, Mark's renaming of the show has definitely caused an uproar that may not please many fans.
