NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Jonathan Majors' domestic violence trial, scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 6 in a Manhattan courtroom, was again postponed despite the prosecution saying they were ready.
The 'Creed III' star's defence attorney argued that there were "deficiencies" in the evidence that still needed to be addressed during the hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court.
What did Jonathan Majors do to his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari?
Jonathan Majors is accused of hitting his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari after a dispute in Chelsea on March, 24.
Jabbari has claimed that on that day Majors assaulted her and left her with a fractured finger, a cut behind her ear, and bruises as per reports.
The assault occurred after Jabbari had attempted to check his phone after suspecting he might be cheating on her by texting other women behind her back.
She has further alleged that Majors grabbed her by the arm and forced her into his car.
What charges are Jonathan Majors facing?
Majors was detained and charged with assault, attempted assault, harassment, and aggravated harassment.
Following the delay on Wednesday, Majors had to appear virtually via video. He was spotted on a flat-screen monitor sporting a faintly tanned polo shirt.
Majors, 33, didn't speak much, the New York Post noted. Except for answering "Yes, ma’am", addressing the routine compliance questions from Judge Rachel Pauley.
He was also reminded to remain away from his ex Jabbari.
Why was Jonathan Major's trial delayed last time?
Majors was initially scheduled to go on trial on August 3, but that date was postponed to September 6.
Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Kelli Galaway stated in court that day that prosecutors needed more time to review the evidence.
It's unclear if he will opt for a jury or have a judge hear the evidence in a bench trial.
Why are Jonathan Majors' attorneys accusing Grace Jabbari?
Since Majors' arrest, his attorney Priya Chaudhry has defended him, saying that Jabbari, 30, attacked him on March 25 when he was attempting to flee from her.
Majors filed a domestic violence complaint against Jabbari in June. She is reportedly accused of being “drunk and hysterical” when she hit and scratched Majors.
It was also reported that the 'The Last Black Man' star told police that she assaulted him multiple times in New York City.
He also reportedly told NYPD that a verbal altercation once turned physical.
Majors had already appeared in court with his girlfriend, actress Meagan Good, but the judge has allowed him to appear virtually again for his next hearing later this month.
