AUSTIN, TEXAS: Joe Rogan, a long-time UFC commentator, once failed to recall the name of one of the top current UFC fighters during one of the episodes on 'The Joe Rogan Experience' podcast.
Shockingly, it was Belal Muhammad's name that Rogan forgot. Muhammad often known as "Remember the Name," is one of the best welterweights competing in the UFC. The gaffe occurred when Rogan and UFC heavyweight veteran Brendan Schaub reviewed the Dos Anjos vs Alvarez event on 'The JRE' show. The Fight Night event was scheduled for July 7, 2016, as a part of the UFC's International Fight Week.

Muhammad was scheduled to meet martial artist, Alan Jouban (now retired), in a welterweight fight at the event, which would be his UFC debut. Muhammad eventually lost his fight to Jouban by unanimous decision. Both Rogan and Schaub stated that the night featured multiple compelling matches. They then discussed the Muhammad clash, joking about Muhammad's nickname, 'Remember the Name'.
Rogan said, "Look at this card. This is a good card for a Thursday night... Alan Jouban... And I don't know this gentleman -- Belal Muhammad? Do you know him? 'Remember the Name' is his nickname. Oh, come on! You motherf**kers with your nicknames. 'Remember the Name,' get out of here, dude."
An MMA fan shared a video clip of Rogan and Schaub's conversation about Muhammad. "He wrote, From JRE in 2016! I guess they «REMEMBERED THE NAME» as he is super relevant at the top in the div 🏻 @bullyb170 and offc Jouban is a handsome MF @AlanJouban @joerogan @BrendanSchaub."

Muhammad has now responded to the post by saying he's come a long way from being mocked by them to becoming an excellent UFC welterweight. Muhammad posted on Twitter, "We’ve come a long away lol"
Muhammad appeared on 'The JRE' podcast in January of this year and spoke with presenter Rogan about a variety of issues. Muhammad's ascension to the top of the UFC welterweight class was one of the major talking points. Rogan and Muhammad both implied that Muhammad's teetotalism was most likely a crucial factor in his development.
On that topic, 'Remember the Name' said that his abstention from alcohol had aided his MMA career immensely. Rogan agreed and praised Muhammad for reducing his alcohol use.
Rogan stated, "If you're a professional athlete, and you're in this world of professional athleticism - in the hardest sport in the world - if you can maximize your recovery and vitality by not drinking alcohol, I would tell people to do it."
