LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Johnny Depp may own a colossal fortune now, but growing up, his life was tough. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey 18 years ago, the host asked the actor if it was true that he had lived in more than 20 different homes by the time he was 15. Depp responded, "It might have been 40. Maybe 39."
Depp has endured a number of challenges over the past few years, but he has remained one of Hollywood's highest paid and most adored performers. The 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' star has a net worth of $150M, per Celebrity Net Worth.
'My mom liked to move around a lot'
On the said interview with Winfrey, Depp said, "My mom like to move a lot. A lot. One time we moved from one house to the house next door." When asked how the actor adjusted to the constant change, Depp said, "It was kind of normal for we didn't know anything else. So, for us it was kind of normal. You'd almost have like a whole neighborhood kind of looking out of their windows as we were carrying boxes from one house to the next."
The crowd cheered when Depp stated that he was born in Kentucky. The actor went on to explain how he was discovered by actor Nicolas Cage after he moved to Los Angeles in 1983 as an unemployed musician.
Johnny Depp now owns several expensive properties
Today, Depp owns property all over the world. He owns a private island in the Bahamas named Little Halls Pond Cay, which he bought in 2004 for $3.6M. Additionally, he owned five multi-story penthouses in the downtown Los Angeles Art Deco Eastern Columbia Building, which he sold for almost $10.9M in 2017 following his divorce from ex-wife, Amber Heard. Depp reportedly owns 14 properties worldwide.
