LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jamie Foxx is slow in recovery as he is reportedly "still not himself" following the health crisis in April, according to a source. "He is getting the best care and working hard to recover right now, but he is still not himself," the insider revealed.
"He has the tightest circle around him," the source said of the 55-year-old actor's close people remaining silent about his health. His family has not provided any updates on his health or recovery since his hospitalization.
John Boyega said he chatted with Foxx on the phone
The health update on Foxx's slow recovery comes after his 'They Cloned Tyrone' co-star John Boyega revealed that he chatted with the actor on the phone and said he was doing well. "He finally picked up the phone. Thank you, bro. He's doing well. And then, you know, we just gave him the privacy, and we can't wait for his return," Boyega said on Tuesday during the movie's premiere in Los Angeles.
"I gave him the well wishes directly. I gave him all the well wishes. So I'm just gonna be waiting until he comes back out here. So take your time, Jamie. We love you, bro," he told People.
Sharing the same positive outlook, Datari Turner who coproduced the science fiction comedy mystery film alongside Foxx suggested that he will be returning to work soon. "He's doing amazing. I promise you. Doing really, really good," Turner said.
"[Director] Juel [Taylor] talked to him yesterday. John Boyega talked to him yesterday. He's in really, really good shape and spirits. And he'll be back on the screen. He'll be back to work very soon," he added.
Foxx's daughter previously denied family was preparing for 'the worst'
Foxx's daughter Corinne Foxx took to Instagram to reveal that her father experienced a "medical complication" during the filming of the Netflix movie 'Back in Action' and he had been hospitalized following the health crisis. "We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday," she said in a statement shared on April 12.
On May 3, Foxx himself shared a post on his Instagram page that read, "Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed." His 29-year-old later addressed the rumors about his health status by issuing a second statement. "Update from the family: Sad to see how the media runs wild. My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating," Corinne wrote on May 12 on her Instagram story as she shared a report that claimed Foxx's family was preparing for "the worst."
"In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone's prayers and support! We have an exciting work announcement coming next week too!", she added.
