LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ioan Gruffudd and Alice Evans have officially divorced, putting an end to their turbulent journey that began with their split after 14 years of marriage. A report by Daily Mail mentions that a court order was issued in LA Superior Court on Monday, granting Gruffudd's request for divorce amidst their ongoing custody battle.
Judge Josh Freeman Stinn stated, "The Court finds irreconcilable differences have arisen in the marriage and grants judgment for the dissolution of marriage as to status only, effective today." The divorce decree marks the formal end of Gruffudd and Evans' marriage.
Evans threatened her with Johnny Depp and Amber Heard ending
However, their legal disputes are far from over. The couple, who met while working together on the film '102 Dalmatians', still need to settle their divorce agreements and determine custody arrangements for their two daughters, Ella, 13, and nine-year-old Elsie. Throughout the divorce process, both Gruffudd and Evans have engaged in a public feud, making serious allegations against each other. Gruffudd, 49, accused Evans of creating fake Twitter accounts to label him and his new girlfriend, Bianca Wallace, as "child abusers." As per TMZ, Gruffudd in the court documents had alleged Evans threatened her with Johnny Depp and Amber Heard ending.
She had harassed him with hundreds of unanswered text messages
This accusation came after Ella sought a restraining order against Gruffudd and Wallace. Evans took to social media to express her confusion and sadness when Gruffudd initially filed for divorce in March 2021. She tweeted, "Sad news. My beloved husband/soulmate of 20 years, Ioan Gruffudd, has announced he is to leave his family, starting next week." In the midst of this contentious battle, Gruffudd sought a restraining order against Evans and he even presented previously undisclosed texts and emails as evidence. He obtained a three-year restraining order in August 2022, preventing Evans from leaking private text messages involving their children. Gruffudd's court filing revealed, "She had harassed him with hundreds of unanswered text messages, abusive emails, and social media posts."

During ongoing proceedings, Ella sought a restraining order against her father and his girlfriend, recounting an incident where Bianca allegedly "slammed a door on her head." However, the application was denied on June 24, 2023, and a minor's counsel was appointed to protect Ella and her younger sister's best interests. The judge turned down Ella's application, stating, "The court finds the restraining order is not supported by the evidence presented at the hearing." With the official divorce granted, Gruffudd and Evans are now legally divorced. However, the resolution of custody arrangements and other divorce-related matters is expected to be a complex and lengthy process due to the acrimony between the parties.
