QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC: Celine Dion’s sister Claudette Dion has given a much-anticipated update on the ‘My Hearty Will Go On’ singer’s health. The ‘The Power of Love’ singer announced in December that she has been diagnosed with a rare neurological condition called ‘stiff person syndrome’. While the songstress has revealed the cancellation of the dates of her planned tour previously, fans were anxiously waiting for an update on the ‘Titanic’ famed singer’s health.
Appearing on a Quebec TV show, ‘Bonsoir Bonsoir’, Claudette shared her sister’s story of determination. As reported by Hello! Magazine, the 74-year-old sister of the ‘That’s The Way It Is’ singer shared that Celine is now in "a determined state of mind" and is "working hard" to fight the condition.
How is Celine Dion's health now?
Claudette continued, "We're all crossing our fingers, and I'm glad people are concerned," before adding, "She is working hard, and we are confident that we will succeed. It can't be a story like this," as quoted by Hello! Magazine.
She further shared a tear-jerking moment with her sister where Claudette reminisced telling her sister, "This can't be possible. Heaven made a mistake," to which the ‘I Surrender’ singer said emotionally, "You are going to make me cry."
'I’m not giving up… and I can’t wait to see you again!'
Claudette’s response came after the ‘I’m Alive’ crooner’s fans were upset hearing about the cancellation of her tour dates in 2023 and 2024. On May 26, she took to her Instagram to share with her fans, “It is with tremendous disappointment that we have to announce today the cancellation of the Courage World Tour.”
Dion wrote in the caption, “I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again. I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100%.”
However, she said that she is not losing hope and still wants to make a comeback, “It’s not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it’s best that we cancel everything now until I’m really ready to be back on stage again. I want you all to know, I’m not giving up… and I can’t wait to see you again!””
In June, Radar Online reported that the songstress was selling her $30 million Las Vegas home and moving back to Canada, her native country. A source close to the singer told the publication, “To be honest, she can barely move,” before adding, “Celine is in an enormous amount of pain.” They continued, “She has the best medical team money can buy but things aren’t looking good. Her disease is incurable. And as hard she’s worked at it with doctors and therapists, she simply isn’t getting better.”
In December, the 55-year-old singer posted a video informing that she had been suffering from ‘stiff person syndrome’ which is a neurological disorder that restricts movement and stiffens muscles setting off muscle spasms.
