Janelle Monáe's 'sudden extreme behaviour change' sparks debate among fans
Singer Janelle Monáe has sparked debate following their dramatic and unexpected NSFW-style shake-up in a new clip. In February this year, Monáe, who uses they/them pronouns, released a new single Float ahead of an announcement about their new album, The Age of Pleasure due for release on 9 June. Now, the second single released from that album, titled 'Lipstick Lover', has got fans talking about their style evolution from suited sci-fi/fantasy to their new sexy era. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Monáe shared a teaser clip of the NSFW video that clearly shows a more sensual style from the 37-year-old as they can be seen emerging from a pool wearing a translucent skin-tight t-shirt with the word “Pleasure” written across the front. Through the wet t-shirt, the performer's bare breasts could be seen, meanwhile, other clips showed that Monáe is exploring a more sexually liberal style with snippets of their face next to a woman’s bare bum. Meanwhile, another video has emerged online of Monae exposing their breasts while performing live. The rebrand has sparked debate among Monáe’s fans, with some loving the evolution and others disagreeing. One person wrote: “The Janelle Monae showing more skin vs suits is a transition that was coming. The suits paid homage. They represented the foundation of her career. It’s natural to change.” Another argued: “Rebrand of the century, I need more women to change their lives for better just like Janelle Monae.” Someone else questioned: “Did they clone Janelle Monae? Cuz the sudden behavior change is extreme to me lol.” “I need a Janelle Monae interview cause I need to know what sparked the change,” another tweet read. Have your say in our news democracy. Taylor Swift rewards her Eras Tour truck drivers with $100,000 bonus each
Taylor Swift has reportedly expressed her gratitude to the truck drivers working on her Eras Tour by giving each of them a $100,000 bonus. The 33-year-old singer is currently on her record-breaking tour which has earned an estimated $300 million in gross revenue, as per Pollstar. Last year, Billboard estimated that Swift's tour would gross $590 million over the course of 52 tour dates. With this huge financial success, Swift has used the fortune to reward her truckers who are responsible for transporting her equipment and staging around the country. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Each of the 50 truck drivers were given $100,000 each ahead of Swift's show in Santa Clara on Saturday, which adds up to $5 million in total for the "end-of-the-tour" bonuses, both TMZ and Entertainment Tonight reported. Plus, bonuses were also handed out to other people on her tour crew such as her band members, dancers, lighting and sound technicians, caterers and others. Though the amount paid to the other members remains unclear, TMZ reported that it was a "very generous amount." Altogether it is thought that The Eras tour could be the highest-grossing tour of all time, earning a massive $1 billion in sales. It's been a record-breaking year for Swift who also became the first woman to have four albums in the top 10 of the Billboard charts. She also became the first female artist in history to surpass 93 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Elsewhere, tickets for Swift's Eras Tour LA shows are on sale for $11,000, while the singer also sparked a meme frenzy with an August post. Have your say in our news democracy. Trisha Paytas announces second pregnancy and already has unique name picked out
Trisha Paytas has announced they are pregnant with their second baby - and has already picked out a unique name for their unborn child. Taking to Instagram, the 35-year-old controversial YouTuber - who identifies as non-binary and uses she/they pronouns - shared the news that they and husband Moses Hacmon are going to be parents again. "?Thankful? Baby #2 coming May 2024," Paytas wrote as the post caption, with snaps of the couple together holding sonogram photos along with their one-year-old daughter Malibu Barbie. Paytas also revealed the name of baby number two in a TikTok video that showed some behind-the-scenes clips of the photoshoot. It appears the expectant parents were inspired by the King of Rock 'n' Roll himself when choosing the name. "We did already announce the baby's name is going to be Elvis, while we don't know the gender yet - boy or girl - we're having baby Elvis and we couldn't be more excited," they said. @trishlikefish88 Paytas who gave birth to Malibu Barbie on September 14 last year and around this time a bizarre conspiracy theory circulated online that they had already given birth and that the baby was the reincarnation of Elizabeth II who passed away on September 8. On their podcast 'Just Trish,' the social media star who addressed this once more after announcing their second pregnancy - as they hope another royal death doesn't coincide with their birth once more. "Please no royalty die in May I swear to goodness if the King dies or something and they say it's my baby," they said. "I have the fear of the royal family at all times." To which Hacmon jokingly interjected: "We are giving birth to the King," referencing the fact that they're naming their baby Elvis. Of course, the announcement prompted memes online about how concerned King Charles should be about Paytas being pregnant again.
