LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ABC meteorologist Sam Champion may have returned from his vacation in Italy but the spirit of the holiday has followed him to the US. The 61-year-old 'GMA' weatherman recently took time off the studio again and went dipping into the waters at Miami Beach. Given his job in New York City, his presence in Miami raised questions among his fans but Sam smacked them away with his picturesque dip in the ocean.
Sam recently took to Instagram and shared a long clip where he can be seen in the shallow waters at Miami Beach. Although, what adds to the action is the early sunrise that Sam seems to be enjoying with a mug of coffee in one hand and a phone in the other hand to record it. Sam wanted to share this beautiful moment of night paving the way for the day with his fans and, given the scenic location, he didn’t want anyone to miss out on it.
Sam Champion’s early morning tryst in Miami waters
The ABC weatherman dived into the waters at Miami Beach and then decided to go live on his Instagram, later posting the 16-minute clip on his profile. Sam started by addressing the beautiful sunrise and drew attention to a boat that was playing party music early in the morning. He then pointed to the supermoon in the sky, signaling that he was up and about early in the day. Sam seemed comfortable and stated, “The water is super calm and warm,” letting the fans know that it was not a problem for him to dive into the ocean so early in the day.
Sam then responded to fans’ questions about his presence in Miami and also once again brought attention to the fact that the water was warm enough for everyone to dive into. The ABC meteorologist kept twisting and twirling in the water and kept sipping from his coffee mug until fans bombarded him about his safety, clearly calling out the threat of sharks in those waters. In the video, Sam said that he indeed had done a stupid thing in the past with his husband Rubem Robierb. “We have gone swimming with the sharks,” but later stated that he never had a shark problem in Miami waters. Despite his continuous reassurances, the fans kept hounding Sam about the presence of sharks and were extremely worried for his safety.
‘Watch out for sharks’
When Sam posted this long clip about his stint in the waters of Miami, they were few fans who loved watching the weatherman’s stream and posed questions about his safety. One fan wrote, “Sam, do you ever get concerned about sharks swimming in the early mornings?” while a second echoed the sentiment, “Watch out for sharks.” A third also reconfirmed, “Sharks are rampant in the waters at sunrise and sunset,” while a fourth stated the dangers of being bitten by a jellyfish, “You know if you get bit by jellyfish you gotta pee all over yourself.” There were other concerns as well with co-host Heather Rourke commenting, “What……………are you doing?”, completely surprised by Sam’s actions. Another fan wrote, “Um phone in the water?” while a fellow New Yorker prayed that it wasn’t the Hudson River. “Please tell me that’s not the Hudson!!”
