LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘The View’ welcomed its final guest for Season 26, the best-selling Indian American author, Padma Lakshmi. Lakshmi received a warm welcome from the audience as well as the co-hosts on ‘The View.’ However, fans noticed that Joy Behar wasn’t very nice to Lakshmi during the segment.
After ‘The View’ posted a clip of the segment with Lakshmi, fans took the comment section to express their shock and disappointment with Behar’s behavior. Behar was almost in the limelight as she moderated the segment on Whoopi Goldberg’s behalf, who is absent every Friday. Behar's behavior may have left a bitter taste in fans' mouths right before the summer hiatus.
‘That’s nice’
This wasn’t Lakshmi’s first stint with ‘The View’ but she admitted, “It feels really good to be back.” She also stated that she feels “at home” when she’s on the talk show. Lakshmi said with a wide smile, “I’m always happy to come visit, ladies.” Before any of the co-hosts could respond or Lakshmi could further her gratitude, Behar looked down at her cue cards and said, “That’s nice,” in a cold tone, ready to move the segment along. As the segment moved forward, the co-hosts spoke to Lakshmi, including Behar. However, it was almost always accompanied by a thin-lipped smile. For the entire segment, Behar interacted the least with Lakshmi, and the one time she did, it was a joke about Emmy nominations where the co-host said, “We’ve had many, but we’ve only won once.” Viewers picked up on these things as they took to the comment section to address it.
‘Dang Joy’
The first thing that the viewers noticed was Behar’s “that’s nice” after Lakshmi expressed her gratitude as one fan commented, “Dang Joy “That’s nice”.” Some fans believe that Behar requires a lesson on social skills as one person wrote in the comment section, “Joy requires a class on social skills. Especially as a host on TV! EEE gad.” Even fans of Behar are disappointed and have noticed the interaction between her and Lakshmi, along with some speculation. One said, “I usually love Joy. Her biggest defender but when she doesn’t care for a guest you can really tell! What’s the story with Joy & Padma?” and another wrote, “I usually like Joy's attitude. She was very rude today. That woman as a guest did not deserve that.” Fans were truly been shocked over Behar’s curtness as they quoted her, simply writing, "That's nice," along with a disbelief emoji, while some were glad they weren’t the only ones who noticed it, saying, “Was wanting to see in the comments if someone noticed it too.”
