LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: As Britney Spears resumes her normal life, her mother Lynne is making dedicated efforts to reconcile the singer with her estranged sister Jamie Lynn Spears. Lynne is actively working to bridge the differences between the two, hoping to foster a renewed bond between the siblings.
"Lynne is begging Britney to make amends with her sister, Jamie Lynn, now," a source told Daily Mail on Monday, June 19. "They are both leaning toward a yes. Lynne knows that Britney does miss her sister, and she told her that the feeling is obviously mutual."
Britney Spears expects an apology from her sister
However, according to an insider, Britney, 41, is still hesitant to reconcile with her sister. The insider revealed that Britney expects an apology from Jamie Lynn before she would even consider the possibility of reconciliation. "Britney still feels that Jamie Lynn is the one who messed up, and if they are going to meet, she would need to come to her and not vice versa," the source revealed.
Meanwhile, Lynne Spears, 68, is actively working on finding a way to facilitate the reconciliation between her daughters. She is apparently determined and committed to making everything perfect again within the family. However, a second source highlighted that Lynne is not rushing to mend her daughters' relationship, as she recognizes that both she and Britney are still addressing their own personal issues. "Lynne knows that it still will take time to get back on the same page and fall into all the right places their relationship needs to be," the source told Daily Mail.
A recent 'promising step'
The source further elaborated that Lynne is fully dedicated to investing "100 percent effort" in strengthening her relationship with Britney. Lynne is committed to nurturing and improving their bond. "With all of the drama that they have dealt with in the last couple of years with each other, Lynne’s recent meeting with Britney was a promising step in the right direction for better days ahead," the insider said.
'It was hard being my sister?'
Britney has always had a strained relationship with her younger sister but it further escalated when she accused Jamie Lynn of exploiting her for financial gain, citing the mention of Britney's name nearly 300 times in Jamie Lynn's memoir, 'Things I Should Have Said', published in January 2022. Britney also held Jamie Lynn responsible for not supporting her in her efforts to end the conservatorship imposed on her by their father, Jamie Spears, in February 2008. The legal arrangement was eventually terminated after 13 years in November 2021.
Furthermore, Britney expressed discontent when Jamie Lynn became emotional on television, discussing her struggles with self-esteem as the younger sister of a global superstar. Britney did not appreciate Jamie Lynn's public display of vulnerability and wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post, "Are we gonna say it was hard being my sister ???? Hmmmmmmmmmmm …. really ???"
