QUEBEC, CANADA: Popular live streamer Felix "xQc" recently revealed to his fans that he is considering purchasing The Guard's Valorant squad. The club qualified to play in the Tier 1 international competition as the North American Valorous Ascension champions.
Riot Games recently revealed that their place had been forfeited since the management hadn't sent the necessary paperwork on time. Many esports pros spoke out against the team's management, which caused considerable indignation among the Valorant community.
Felix's recent remarks while broadcasting Counter-Strike have stirred a debate among gamers, even if he isn't the first streamer to openly consider signing the players.
xQc’s interest in ‘The Guard’
xQc mentioned that even though The Guard is quite pricey, he had been considering purchasing it while waiting in line for a game.
“Yeah, I was thinking about buying, um, The Guard from Valorant and kind of sending it even though it is kind of expensive,” he said.
One of xQc's pals who was playing Counter-Strike with him suggested that he purchase a CS 2 team when he mentioned the possibility of purchasing The Guard's Valorant squad.
However, xQc indicated that he was better suited to purchasing an already-existing staff because he lacked the time to work out the "whole structure" of the company.
"Yeah, but I realized that I don't have the time to figure out the whole structure before it starts, because people need to have like a full structure," xQc said.
When his friends questioned him about the risks associated with purchasing a team, xQc said, “Since it's like T1, it's like tier one Valorant? All the other teams have like a full like, they have a place where they're going to live, where they're going to practice, their whole support team, and s**t like that."
He added, "They have everything fully fledged out, you know? And building that might take a lot of time.”
Fans share mixed reactions
Many Valorant-focused X accounts have written about the rumor that xQc could well be buying The Guard and aiding its franchising, which has sparked a lot of discussion online.
A person tweeted, “If hes considering, he better not flop like he did with turtle troop cuz then thats just crazy to do that sht twice promising sht and not saying a thing afterwards...” Whereas one said, “He's got Stake money he can afford it.”
Another user said, “In the end its going to be well worth it for xQc,” while another said, “TheGuard deserves much better than to be associated with xQc.”
