LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Popular Canadian singer and rapper Drake has finally disclosed the reason why he has not been tied the knot with anyone till now as he shed light on his personal life. The 36-year-old 'God's Plan' singer has been linked to several prominent Hollywood women over the years, including Rashida Jones, Tyra Banks, SZA, Julia Fox, and Rihanna, just to name a few. However, Drake said he can’t see himself marrying a fellow celebrity.
While appearing on 'The Really Good Podcast with Bobbi Althoff' Thursday, July 20, the hitmaker termed the concept of marriage “a thing of ancient times.”
Why didn't Drake get married?
“I don’t know. It seems like a thing of, like, ancient times or something. I think I will eventually,” he told the 25-year-old TikToker. “I don’t know, I don’t think I can offer somebody what they’d be looking for. Just consistency. I think my life, my work is my priority.” The singer also quickly shot down Althoff's question when she asked Drake if he refuses to settle down in a bid to continue “sleeping around". The 'One Dance' hitmaker explained he can’t offer “consistency” or dedication to a relationship “at this stage” in his life. “I don’t wanna get married ’cause like, I just don’t wanna disappoint someone,” he added.
Drake will probably not marry anyone famous
Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham, shared, "I probably will not end up marrying someone famous. Famous people really aren’t that, like, anything — they’re not that intriguing.”
When asked what specific traits is he looking for in a significant other, he said that he wants “somebody that’s an individual. I like somebody that’s, like, their own,” he explained. “They’re not just not like a carbon copy, like a person that I’ve seen a bunch of times throughout my existence. I like somebody with a sense of humor, you know? I like — I don’t know, like, cosplay.”
“What do you want them to dress up as?” Althoff asked to which Drake replied, "No, I don’t need them to [dress up] — I probably will f**k with them more if they are into cosplay. Not with me, just like generally.”
Although the rapper has never engaged, Drake made headlines last year after he displayed a diamond necklace that was made from engagement rings he thought about giving women. “New piece titled ‘Previous Engagements’ for all the times he thought about it but never did it,” jewelry designer Alex Moss wrote over a video, showing the creation. The necklace is made up of “42 engagement rings, 351.38 carat in diamonds,” Moss explained in the caption.
In 2016, the Grammy Award winner welcomed his son Adonis, six, after privately parenting the child with French artist and former porn star Sophie Brussaux, 33.
