NEW YORK, NEW YORK: Beloved 'Today' hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie were absent from the morning show's Monday broadcast. Eventually, co-hosts Craig Melvin, Jacob Soboroff, and weekend host Kristen Welker filled in for the daytime stars.
While the reason behind their absence has not been specified, there is a possibility of them wanting some time off just to be with family. The morning show has been a staple of American households for a substantial amount of time and there are occasional replacements whenever someone takes a personal day off.
Why were Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie absent from Monday's morning broadcast?
It is likely that Hoda and Savannah's absence were attributed to the occasion of Juneteenth, as per The Sun. Hoda chose to spend some quality time at her home with her family over the weekend. She spent her time with ex-fiance Joel Schiffman and her two daughters Haley, 6, and Hope, 4. Hoda and her family spent Father's Day together.
Meanwhile, Savannah was also subjected to a similar situation at her house. She chose to spend time with her two children and husband Michael Feldman. Savannah took to Instagram to share a sweet moment of her husband opening presents from their children -- Vale, 8, and Charley, 6.
Even though Hoda spent time with her family, she also managed to share a heartfelt tribute for her dad and conveyed that anyone who is missing their dad on Father's Day is not alone. Hoda wrote in the caption, "If you are missing your dad on father’s day.. you are not by yourself. Happy father’s day dad! The kids and I talked about you today."

Savannah also missed last Friday's broadcast and eventually, Melvin replaced her position. Hoda was quick to specify that Savannah had taken the day off at the beginning of the broadcast. Both Savannah and Hoda are spend as much time as possible with their family members. While Savannah took her mother Nancy and daughter Vale to see the play 'Funny Girls' which features Lea Michele as Fanny Brice, Hoda chooses to keep her life private.
Savannah and Hoda always have a great time together on the set of 'Today' and have even discussed the possibility of hosting 'Wheel of Fortune' together if given the opportunity. The discussion to host 'Wheel of Fortune' emerged when the panel was discussing Pat Sajak's replacement. Both Hoda and Savannah agreed that they would not miss the opportunity to host a gameshow for the world and even juggled the idea of doing it together.
