LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: One of the most beloved segments on ‘The View’ is ‘Hot Topics’ where the co-hosts talk about stories from across the globe and platforms. Off late, this segment has had a fair share of political topics, but by the looks of it, there has been a slight shift on Wednesday. ‘The View’ has picked up a more light-hearted story, but Whoopi Goldberg isn’t pleased.
Stories about affairs, especially extramarital affairs are always a hit amongst the audience, because who doesn’t love some good gossip? However, Goldberg seems disappointed with this selection of topic for the segment and she makes sure that the audience, producers, and co-hosts are aware of that.
‘Stupidest stories’
Goldberg looked down at her cue card as she introduced the topic to her co-hosts and live audience, but before that, she said, “And right now we’re going to bring you one of the stupidest stories we’ve ever bought you before.” Goldberg made it incredibly clear that what was about to come next wasn’t of any interest to her as she read, “A woman who just ended a years-long affair with a man, wrote to the New York Times in a panic because she and her husband were just invited to a dinner party with the same man.” As the audience gasped at the topic, Goldberg indulged in theatrics, further mocking the story provided by ‘The View,’ and continued, “And she writes, ‘what should I do?’” Goldberg has a disgruntled expression on her face the whole time.
Did Goldberg advise the woman?
While Goldberg was seemingly annoyed with this part of the segment, she did have one piece of advice for the woman in question, “Well dummy, maybe don’t go.” Although Goldberg might not have enjoyed the segment, the audience was thrilled and doubled down with laughter at Goldberg’s narration and advice. For the rest of the topic, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin all chimed in with their thoughts, opinions, and advice as Goldberg sat quietly, looking disinterested. Given the audience's response, ‘The View’ producers might just add more affair stories to the ‘Hot Topics’ segment.
