LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Another episode of America's most popular quiz show, 'Jeopardy!' is drawing heavy criticism from fans. In Tuesday, June 20 episode, Ben Goldstein, Tym Blanchard and Janie Sullivan were introduced as the three contestants going toe to toe for victory. But in the episode, the contestants missed three Daily Doubles, with 20 wrong clues out of 60, and a discouraged Tym who never got above $0.
Ben, a content marketing specialist from Dexter, Michigan, competed against Tym Blanchard and Janie Sullivan in an attempt to land a three-day winning streak. Although he emerged victorious on the night, Ben acknowledged the sorry state of affairs that unraveled during the game show on his Twitter handle. Even though he was the one who emerged victorious, his post was a slight dig at Tym's poor performance in an extremely underwhelming episode of 'Jeopardy!'
Who is Tym Blanchard?
By the first commercial break, Tym had $0 left to his name promoting host Mayim Bialik, 47, to say, “We’ll get you on that board,” in an attempt to motivate him. A bespectacled Tym is a cryptocurrency and angel investor from Nashville, Tennessee, and later revealed that he climbed Mt Everest with a blown-out oxygen tank.
He answered nine clues incorrectly and was far in the negatives at -$3800 by the end. Due to his negative score, he wasn’t allowed to compete in Final Jeopardy and was eventually left with a distraught look on his face. In Final Jeopardy! Jane had $7,500, and Ben had $6,800 while Tym was asked off stage. Ben was declared a three-day champion with $21,393 to his name. When the episode concluded, the fans were furious with all the contestants and especially Tym who endured one of the worst performances in the game show’s history.
‘Today's champ: the Fourth Podium’
As the episode ended, ‘Jeopardy!’ fans rushed to Reddit and expressed their anguish. One person wrote, "Today's champ: the Fourth Podium,” and the second person built on it and said, “Goodness, this week is not going as well as I expected! Are any 'lowest records' going to be broken this week?” A third then quickly added, "Brutal game. So many incorrect responses.” A fan sympathized with Tym and said, “Poor Tym. I feel sorry for him. It must be so embarrassing!” while another harshly joked, "Let's hope Tym does much better at Crypto trading.” There have been extremely disappointing episodes on ‘Jeopardy!’ lately with an episode earlier this month nearly resulting in the most unanswered clues ever (23).
