LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The relationship between 'The Bachelorette' alum Gabby Windey and Robby Hoffman was made public in August 2023. The Bachelor Nation is now interested in learning more about Gabby's new beau.
Gabby, the former 'Bachelorette,' is in a new relationship. Gabby, who co-starred with Rachel Recchia in season 19 of the ABC dating program, announced on Instagram on August 2 that she is dating writer and comedian Robby. The ICU nurse from Colorado uploaded a carousel of images of the two women kissing and cuddling. She captioned it, "Told you I'm a girls girl!!"
Who is Robby Hoffman?
Robby is a Brooklyn-based writer, comedian, and talk show host. Despite being born in New York, she grew up in Montreal, Canada, with her ten siblings. She is the seventh of ten siblings raised by a single mother.
Robby graduated from McGill University with a degree in accounting and communications. She went on to earn her master's degree, but quit on her first day to pursue a career in comedy. Robby headlined the New York Comedy Festival in 2018. The next year, her comedy special 'I'm Nervous' was released.
Robby is a TV writer in addition to being a comedian. She has worked as a writer on various television series, including 'Odd Squad,' 'Baroness Von Sketch Show,' 'Workin’ Moms', and 'The Chris Gethard Show'. Robby won a Daytime Emmy for her work on 'Odd Squad' in 2019. As for 2023, Robby has an autobiographical comedy series in the works called 'Rivkah'. The TV show is produced in collaboration with A24 and Showtime. Robby also worked on the Canadian series 'Baroness Von Sketch Show'. She also hosts the 'Too Far' podcast.
Robby was named a "Comic to Watch" by the New York Comedy Festival and one of Vulture's "Comedians You Should Know in 2020," according to Deadline.
Robby's journey as a Queer Jewish Comedian
Robby described being "outed" at the age of 18 on a March 2023 episode of the 'Buckle Up' podcast. "I actually wasn't worried about my family, I was worried about my friends," she explained, noting that she went to a "conservative school" where "it wasn't just gay kids floating around."
Robby was "so worried to lose" her friends, whom she regarded as "traditional." Her friends "didn't handle it well at the time" when they discovered Robby was gay. "I had a friend who told me — on our Birthright trip, no less, to Israel — that she could not support the lifestyle I had," she explained.
Robby was raised in the Hasidic Jewish culture, but after relocating to Canada, her family "fried out" on the lifestyle. "We were less and less religious over the years," she said on the 'Buckle Up' podcast. "I wouldn’t say it took one year. … There’s certain things [I still do]."
While she cherishes some parts of her upbringing, Robby does not consider herself "religious." "The girl I’m dating, she’s like, ‘You’re the most religious person I’ve ever met,'" she says. "I find myself returning [to] and doing the traditions."
'A whisper that got louder'
"At first, when my girlfriend and I, in the beginning, started dating, I was like, ‘We’ll see where it goes,'" Gabby said on The View. "And then it was going very well. I could see the future, for once. It just felt so right."
"I had such an amazing time on Bachelor and Bachelorette, dating all of those men. And now that's how people recognize me," she explained. "And I always just want to live my truth and my story. So, I have been seeing someone for a couple months, and I’ve been keeping it a little more private because it is a bigger story and a bigger conversation because I’m dating a girl." Talking to The View hosts, she also revealed that "it was a whisper in me that just got louder and louder" upon recognizing her relationship with Robby.
Gabby then revealed her girlfriend's identity on Instagram. They've been dating for three months and say it's been "the best experience."
In a selfie video uploaded to her Instagram account, the former Denver Broncos cheerleader revealed more about her and Hoffman's developing affair. "You know I love to stir the pot and tease, but I did want to wait until I was ready because it is a larger conversation because I'm dating a girl," she said eagerly.
The fact that Robby, who once appeared on the podcast 'StraightioLab' and complained so loudly that the episode, rather than having a normal topic, is simply titled 'Society,' is in a loving relationship with a woman who was first runner-up on 'Dancing With the Stars,' is both perplexing and brilliant.
