LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Katy Perry's father Keith Hudson, a Christian preacher, has shared that he's forgiven Russell Brand for breaking up with his daughter via a text message on New Year's Eve in 2011.
Brand proposed to Perry in 2010 during a romantic trip to India. The couple had a grand and traditional Indian wedding ceremony in Rajasthan in October of the same year. However, just over a year after their wedding, Brand filed for divorce from Perry citing irreconcilable differences.

"I forgive him. We've all had our pasts, but thank God that we're forgiven," Hudson told Daily Mail on Sunday, September 24, 2023.
Hudson, 76, is a Pentecostal pastor based in Santa Barbara. Before dedicating himself to preaching, he had a different lifestyle.
Perry revealed in 2009 that her father was acquainted with Timothy Leary, a psychologist from the sixties known for promoting the use of psychedelic drugs, according to CBS News.
She said, "He was part of the Strawberry Fields Forever. They found God, you know? They needed to find God. Not that they needed to find God, God found them, really."
However, Hudson, had a life-changing experience with God in an apple orchard 49 years ago, leading him to become a devout Christian.
Perry and her family used to picket rock concerts together, spreading the message of finding God. Hudson is married to Perry's mother Mary Christine Hudson.

Katy Perry, who is currently engaged to long-term partner Orlando Bloom, said in a 2013 interview with Vogue that she had initially taken "a lot of responsibility" for their split until she later discovered what she referred to as the "real truth."
"I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending," she said, adding, "Then I found out the real truth, which I can't necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day."
"I let go and I was like, 'This isn't because of me; this is beyond me.' So I have moved on from that," she revealed.
Perry's father Hudson did not reveal the "real truth" either. "I can't say anything because I'll get into trouble," he added.
Russell Brand refutes allegations of rape and assault
Russell Brand now faces serious allegations of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse by four women dating back to 2006-2013.
However, Brand took to his social media to "absolutely deny serious allegations."
"These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time when I was in the movies. And as I've written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous," claimed Brand.
"The relationships I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent about that then, almost too transparent. And I'm being transparent about it now as well," he said.
He further asked, "And to see that transparency metastasized into something criminal that I absolutely deny makes me question, is there another agenda at play?"
The actor closed his video with a plea to his audience. "In the meantime, I want you to stay close, stay awake, but more importantly than any of that - if you can, please - stay free," a phrase he frequently uses to conclude his videos on his Youtube channel.
