NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'Today's lifestyle contributor and fashion expert, Jill Martin, recently opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis. Even though she struggles to cope with the ongoing treatment, Martin revealed that she is thankful her diagnosis occurred after her wedding to her husband, Erik Brooks.
Martin tearfully disclosed her health struggles and breast cancer diagnosis on the morning show. She has been leading the Ambush Makeover and Steals and Deals segments for the 'Today' show since 2006 and has also authored several books, including 'Fashion for Dummies'. The fashion enthusiast went on to win two Emmys for her reporting with the New York Knicks. During a candid interview, she talked about her illness and expressed that she feels "grateful" that her wedding to Brooks took place before she learned of her breast cancer.
Who is Jill Martin's husband?
Brooks got married to versatile media personality Martin on September 10, 2022, at the New York Public Library in New York. Martin's husband is the founder and CEO of Ethos Capital LLC, a private investment organization that helps to transform traditional business models into faster-growing companies via technology. He was also the managing partner at ABRY Partners from 1999 to 2019. Before that, he was the vice president at New Century Holdings between 1994 and 1999. Although he is not as famous as Martin, his successful business ventures speak volumes. The duo got engaged in the Hamptons in May 2019, however, they called it off in 2020 due to issues as a result of the pandemic. Fortunately, the lifestyle and commerce correspondent and business venturer reignited their love and reconciled in 2021.
'It was such a purely happy event'
The 47-year-old 'Today' show contributor shared that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer after testing positive for the BRCA gene, which increases the risk of breast or ovarian cancer. While hosting her show, Martin opened up about receiving the life-changing news. She expressed how her life will now be marked as "before and after the diagnosis," but felt "grateful" that her wedding happened before her breast cancer diagnosis because "it was such a purely happy event," in an interview with PEOPLE Magazine.
Moreover, Martin views this as a new chapter in her life as she stated, "I feel like this is a new chapter with a new journey. [But] that's not bad because I am going to take this. It will just be different," adding, "And my choices will be affected by it, and my lifestyle will be affected by it, and my outlook will be affected by it. And there will be a lot of beautiful, positive silver linings that come out of it, and of course, heartbreak. I mean, this is heartbreaking."
